Of course USA would be expected to do better - they have a significantly higher military budget. Obviously you cant compare these figures like-for-like as a Russian soldier wage and equipment is cheaper (equating to less defense spend) but if USA weren't expected to do better in the same situation then arguably they would be wasting a lot of defense budget money for nothing.



To your point of "How would the USA have handled the same invasion?" using Iraq as an example, USA doesn't exactly minimise civilian casualties (e.g. see Iraq war civilian casualty numbers, infrastructure destruction,etc) so you could say Russia is being far more humanitarian

Putin invaded simply because the Ukrainian govt were showing interest in joining. Or so the claims… I think he reason he’s mad about them joining nato is less to do with russias defence and more to do with the fact that he wouldn’t be able to bully them anymore if they were in NATO.

Maybe I was incorrect because I only know things from a 50 year old view. I just see the death and destruction and don't know what to do because we can't help or it will be WW3, and Zelensky is constantly on TV whining. Maybe there's just something about him that I don't trust. I don't know, it's just an intuition.

I do remember when Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia, etc. were communist and you couldn't easily flee them. I'm sure that would have been difficult to live there. You probably wouldn't have moved to Poland if it was like it was pre-1990.

I wonder if Zelenski realizes that once the Russians come close enough to the point where defeat is imminent, he's just going to get taken out by the Americans themselves.

He serves his purpose for now but once he dies, Americans are going to make a hero out of him.
