Russian forces are beginning to have “inventory issues with precision-guided munitions,” a senior US defense official told reporters on Monday. Precision-guided munitions refer to missiles that target a specific location, as opposed to “dumb bombs,” which do not have the technology to focus on a specific target.

The inventory issues around their precision-guided munitions supply are why “you’re seeing the increasing use of what we would call dumb bombs,” the official added.

Some of their precision-guided munitions are “failing to launch, or they’re failing to hit the target, or they’re failing to explode on contact,” the official said.

They have used “quite a bit” of their “cruise missile, air launch cruise missile” supplies and have seen a significant “number of failures” of those munitions, the official said.

Really not sure that I believe this narrative to be honest. BRB fifth largest army in the world doesn't have the materiel required to wage war on its borders for a month? Not sure if srs. How were they able to project power in Syria so effectively then?

Yeah Caucasus mountain people are wrestling moggers. I have a Dagestani friend who actually grew up there and he was saying that if you don't do wrestling in school people pretty much assume you're ghey and you're going to have a bad time growing up.

It's definitely on my list of places to go, just haven't made the journey down there yet. Dagestani people actually tend to be a lot cooler than Chechans as well, Chechen people tend to be kind of agro and hostile towards non-Chechens, whereas Dagestani people (I'm told) are more welcoming to foreigners and eager to show hospitality.

Will see for myself one day because I want to go to Grozny too.

Russians were always lacking PGM capabilities, this was the case in Syria as well where the overwhelming amount of ordnance dropped by them were dumb bombs. Same deal in Ukraine, if they had PGMs, their jets wouldn't have to fly low - and be vulnerable - to drop their crap. Their hypersonic Kinzhals are just reworked surface-launched Iskander ballistic missiles that are launched from the air. And as ballistic missiles go, they reach hypersonic speeds during the terminal phase.

Them running completely dry is imo a stretch, but they can't just dump in everything they have and keep their inventories empty.
