This whole "demilitarize Ukraine" chit, I'll believe it when I see it. It's called a negotiation for a reason. I can't see demilitarization being a major sticking point if Ukraine agree to the other terms. Russia wants out of this ASAP. Demilitarization is completely unreasonable and unrealistic. If Russia won't compromise, I will seriously question Putin's motives and admit I was wrong.

Also, you're back to predicting the future again. No one is claiming that Ukraine was joining NATO next week. The fact is, there has been a hell of a lot of talk from the US and Ukraine about NATO membership over the years. This is a slap in the face to Putin. We know it's not "fair", but he drew a clear line at Ukraine, and the US danced over it. It's just a retarded move, unless it was intentional.

This could have been settled diplomatically but the US did not allow it. Do you seriously not realize how much the US government despises Russia and vice versa? It's never going to stop. In your own words, Ukraine being a neutral buffer state benefits both sides. If the US just fooked off, we wouldn't have any of this mess. inb4 the cold war. Please don't. They went too far here. They were either calling Putin's bluff and grooming Ukraine for an alliance down the road, or they intentionally led Ukraine into this mess. There is no other explanation for their actions. It's incompetence or a calculated sacrifice.
It was intentional. Zelensky interview last night on CNN-- he admitted that he was told by NATO that Ukraine would never be admitted to NATO but publically the "door would remain open".

US-led NATO is using the Ukrainian people as bait to instigate regime change in Russia. This is one of the most cynical and evil geopolitical machinations that I have seen in American history ded srs.

Ukraine had a mathematical chance at best before 2014 to become a member, but the last time Zelensky went to Biden in Nov 2021 and made an announcement about it the US gov kept silent and didn't comment. But anyway, Putin took care of the NATO membership with Crimea/separatist regions. Unless Ukraine made a move and reclaimed and stabilized those regions while the Russians were just rolling with it it simply wasn't a thing.

If the US fuked off it would have backstabbed its European allies and showed the whole world how NATO is a joke. This after Trump roasted the European members to step up their spending and most of them started complying. And we have talked about this, but all Putin had to do was to not attack, laugh at the whole NATO bunch, laugh at Zelensky with his chit approval ratings and make more subtle moves.

He doesnt need to admit that, its publicly known. Even if donbas wasnt in conflict, ukraine still doesnt meet requirements for membership because of crimea.

And again, NATO has not said that ukraine wont be able to join. It still maintains its open door policy without any changes. This has been stated multiple times since russias inital aggression.

And ya i dont see any evidence for the regime change lol. Truth is, russia is a very minor inconvenience to the US in terms of geopolitics.. they backed the other side in syria and are allied with a few of US enemy states/groups, thats it...

They arent and havent been in a looong time a real geopolitical threat to US interests.

You've omitted two important details from this narrative which are being used to justify Russia's preemptive struck, otherwise this is a well written summary of the situation.

1. There has been a war going on since the government was violently overthrown in 2014, which the United States actively supported at the very least-- the Assistent Secretary of State under Hilldog was on Maidan Square handing out sandwiches and sitting US Senators were making speeches to the protesters. Say what you want about the "little green men" volunteers narrative, but those areas want to be a part of Russia. All the chit that CNN is showing currently about shopping centers and hospitals being bombed have been shown in Russia for the last 10 years as artillery is fired back and forth in the Lughansk and Donbass region. I was there myself. I heard the artillery. I saw the destruction. There has been a war going on for a long time where Russia has been arming the underdog. Now the US is.
2. NATO has been hosting joint training missions and delivering weapons systems to Ukraine for this entire time, and Zelensky admitted that he was told Ukraine would not be admitted to NATO, but publically that would not be announced. AKA, this is just a gambit for regime change in Russia, paid for in the blood of the Ukrainian people.

This is absolutely disgusting foreign policy by NATO and the United States and the fact that the domestic media coverage of this is making Putin out to be the sole perpetrator of this war ignores so many of the true facts of the matter that it would be funny if it weren't so depressingly true.

What regime change? The West only reacted to Putin's dikery when me made a move on Crimea but didn't really do anything besides a round of sanctions that definitely hurt them, but weren't crippling them in any way. Regime could have stayed as long as it wanted, but unfortunately for them Vlad couldn't let go of his autistic fever dreams about muh historical claims and whatnot and just had to pull the trigger on this invasion.

Unless the West has concrete plans to merk all the oligarchs/ex-KGB honchos and the whole Russian mafia and whatnot, a "regime change" is just switching dear leader A with dear leader B, who might be slightly less retarded than his predecessor. Ok, Navalny might have public support, but then what?

Because, and no one likes to hear this brah, if Ukraine wants to join NATO, the borders need to be updated a bit. There's plenty of cynicism coming from Russia here too, I'm not saying there's not. But western foreign policy criminal here.

Yes. The Fareed Zakaria interview where Zelensky openly said that he was privately told that Ukraine would never be admitted to NATO but publically they would act like they were going to join one day combined with the fact that within literally 48 hours of the war starting, they issued the most comprehensive and far-reaching sanctions package that has ever been constructed in modern history with 100% consensus among NATO (and non-NATO) countries.

This was premeditated and strategic with no doubt in my mind.

The invasion showed how unhinged rus barbarians are and why NATO is so important for civilisation. After the invasion 75% of Finland wants to join NATO lol, among with most of the other non-NATO countries. Literally no west bordering country trusts them.

The NATO topic is also just fluff as rus haven't mentioned it as a reason for invading. But russas useful iditos keep coming up with other excuses to rationalise for them

This absolutely makes sense on some of the takes a good bit have regarding this conflict. Some are just now aware on the ongoing power struggle between the east and west.

We'll both use and abuse everyone.

This is straight up a US v. China type of big picture.

Remind me who started that "war" and over what. Please let's not pretend it was actually about caring for Russian minorities instead of bagging Crimea and the separatist regions. "X region wants to belong to Y country instead of Z country" is not a valid argument for war, the whole area beyond the Iron Curtain has been an ethnic chitshow for quite some time and our countries have been grilling each other over it.

Ukrainian politics have been a chitshow with the various ballot stuffings, poisonings, imprisonments and corruption cases since forever and yes, Nuland and the US were supporting the Euromaidan crew and Yanukovich was sent packing after he was "voted out", but what did they actually achieve? They had Poroshenko for 5 years and then Zelensky since 2019 who was more popular in the East, but overall it stayed the same corrupt and ineffective country with marginally better chances of getting closer to the EU/NATO, but not much else.

A better part of the EU vetoes sanctions on Russian gas and the rest of what literally who's tweet mentions, since the EU would grind to a halt without it and people would freeze to death. Not to mention that her "claims" being bs.

But I'm actually surprised that botnik retard doesn't know how the Hungarian gov has been a Putin dikrider and has been vetoing every single international decision concerning Ukraine ever since they introduced their laws for cracking down on foreign ethnic minorities.

from russian media readovka
The current map of military operations over the past day The picture on the fronts today is almost the same as yesterday. The borders of the fronts have not changed much. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has been conducting the tactics of effective high-precision strikes for many days. So, now explosions again sounded in Nikolaev, there the military unit and hotel in which "military tourists" lived got under distribution. Polite greetings came from the Russian warship along the coast of Odessa. At night, air-launched cruise missiles attacked the training center for foreign mercenaries and Ukrainian nationalist formations at the Novaya Lubomirka combined-arms training ground in the Rivne region. More than 80 mercenaries and nationalists were killed, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Well, the noisiest “high-precision” arrival on March 21 came to a non-working shopping center in Kyiv, in which a battery of Ukrainian MLRS with an ammunition depot was hidden. It is also reported that the massive work of artillery and aviation on other fronts, in particular, artillery hell was arranged today for the fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdiivka, writes the Readovka ******** channel. The Nazi army is trying to snarl like a rat, continuing to bomb the peaceful areas of Donetsk, where civilians were again dying. There is little information on close interactions between motorized infantry units directly. Of the interesting things, according to Ramzan Kadyrov, they finally managed to capture the area of the Azovstal plant - the Aziva citadel. And this means that Mariupol will soon be completely liberated, progress here is going at a faster pace than before. Well, for sweets, at a briefing by the Ministry of Defense, we learned that the village of Sladkoe, Maryinsky district, Donetsk region, has been liberated) That's all for today. Further technical message: as information about the movements and the situation on the fronts is becoming less and less for a number of reasons. For example, due to a change in our tactics, increased secrecy of movements by the RF Ministry of Defense, a ban on the publication of photos

Rus has been harassing and attacking their bordering neighbours since forever. Attacking way smaller countries because they "worry for their own safety" (lol) and sending in "peace troops" is not new to them

A former 'insider' said delivering bad news is not in their culture. They'll just show up with a gun and thats that.

I also heard rus soldiers who didn't want to be deployed would be jailed for 8 years. And those in the frontlines who tried to surrender would get shot by the rus soldiers behind them.

In addition to some lists of their soldiers ridiculously low wages. I can't believe its real life so not even gonna bother finding them (sacrificing their lives for lunch money).

Great russa tops lists for homicide, corruption, opiate usage, suicide rates, and HIV prevalence.

Rus is significantly more corrupt. Ukraine has the foundation for improvement, but rus crabs in a bucket mentality doesn't want to let them go

Then why did the west and NATO support Kosovo when they wanted to break away from Serbia and bomb the absolute phuck out of Serbia to ensure that Kosovo would become independent?

If you can't see that the cynicism and faustian bargaining goes both ways in the world, I just don't know what to tell you brah sorry.

There'd be more countries on that list if he felt he could get away with it. Someone should send his ass across the border and experience what he's sent so many people to go do.

Not sure if srs, NATO bombed the Serbs after their ethnic cleansings and after diplomatic attempts have failed. And they haven't "bombed the absolute phuck out of Serbia". Sure, we could argue about the justification and lack of UN approval, but it's by no way similar to the UA separatist regions.

How come "x group of people want to belong to y country instead of z so it's justified" didn't apply for the Chechens? They have "won" the first Russian-Chechen war but then randomly decided to bomb Russian apartment buildings the very same month Putin was appointed just to kick off Grozny Boogaloo?
