Can you tell if members of the same sex are attractive?

Sometimes I think a dude is pretty good looking then a girl tells me he’s ugly. And vice versa

And girls will hype up their friends and they turn out to be ugly

I think it’s hard to judge members of the same sex

Just like everyone has preferences when it come to finding the opposite sex attractive, you have preferences in attraction towards the same sex....and not even in a homo way. What you find attractive in a dude, a gal might not.

There is also a clear line that once passed, everyone can agree "that person is attractive"...but most people fall in the "subjectively attractive category" ....where they're not off-putting/ugly/unattractive, but everyone wont necessarily agree that they are universally attractive.

I used to be absolutely clueless about this, but now I could give a guy's relative attractiveness score. But girls do care a lot about a guy's charisma, and a guy who is a 6 and can charm will still be able to get any girl.

Most IRL gay guys are a lot better looking than IRL lesbians. Says a lot. Men are better at knowing when guys are attractive, while women generally suck at knowing what's attractive.

I think attractiveness has objective qualities aside from subjective as well. I've seen dudes in public that I think are handsome and think "yeah, he probably smashes a lot poonani".

It's only gay if you start thinking about hanging out in the showers at Ram Ranch with them.

The problem with women is how their standards are based off what they're told by other women and centered around their desire to be liked.

I read somewhere that men's preferences vary far more widely than women, so whereas a group of women would typically find the same things attractive in a man a group of men would pick different things they found attractive. This makes sense since men are driven to reproduce with a bunch of women whereas women tend to try and find the most successful male to reproduce with for resources and protection.

Also jives with your statement since a woman might think another woman is attractive because they are a specific height, weight, look healthy and in shape (which is what women look for as a group) whereas they might not check a single box that a man would look for.

It changes with taste, cultural background, and generation. My grandma used to think Ernest Borgnine was one of the handsomest men she’d seen.

I think I’m okay at telling if a guys good looking, but attraction is more than looks. As a man who’s into women I have no clue if a man is actually attractive. Women give more weight to things like sense of humor, etc than men do, and that influences how attractive they perceive him.

I’m talking purely about physical attractiveness. As in you’d find them attractive before ever talking to them.

If they're well above average, yeah. Someone like Brad Pitt is obviously good looking. It's dudes that fall into the average category where I have no clue, and the male bias is sure to influence the answer. I think the Rock is a good looking guy, but I'm not sure where he stands on the average woman's good looking scale. They might lie about it simply because he's famous and skew the true answer.
