KC now leads the league in available cap space @ $28.6M
Maybe they could use that to acquire a WR1
Maybe they could use that to acquire a WR1

Like hell yeah I’ll go make more for a team who’s off-season begins earlier. Outside of individual incentives in their contracts they really don’t get a lot extra for winning playoff games. If you play all the way through and win the super bowl it ends up being like 300k. Which isn’t much for a guy making 10+ million

I think most of these guys are so competitive that they want to win as well though, and their pride makes them not want to lose or look like an idiot. There's very few guys that just quit after their payday.

Very smart decision by the Chiefs if you ask me, they simply didn't have the cap space for Tyreek. They've obviously seen something that they like in the draft, so it's better to trade a little too early than too late. Especially considering that the 22 draft is loaded full of serious talent. Very deep draft this year, so if you're going to move on, this is the time to do it. Save $20 mil of cap space, and use that to load up with 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds and 2 fourths.
Long term, this will make them stronger because they tend to draft well. They will be a serious threat again for the next 5 years.

Can't argue with $30 mil/year though, he chose to get his bread!Again not disagreeing, but Mahomes has also still balled when Hill has been outta the lineup (363yd/game, 109 QBR, 8 TD-0 INT in 4 games)
While it's unquestionable the KC offense went backwards today but I believe in the end, Tyreek will miss Pat more that Pat misses Tyreek

We have yet to see $20M a year for a WR work out for a team yet and MIA just chit all over that number to pay Hill
KC can create, right now, around $22M of cap space by converting Mahomes 2022 base to signing bonus. If/when they do in fact do this, you'll know a splash signing is coming
Also to note the only AFC contenders that have QBs in place cheaper than Mahomes are LA, CIN, BAL, and BUF...all of whom will also be up for extension in the next 1-3 years
As it stands, Mahomes may never be anywhere near the highest paid QB APY or otherwise
