There are many things which had me jaded about life in Germany and Switzerland, it baffles me how people here (california) fetisize life in western Europe. You essentially feel like a tenant and the government is your landlord.

America really isn’t any more free than Western Europe. There are things illegal in America that are legal in Europe and vice versa

Eh. I've spent time in a few countries in both Europe and South America. Everyone I met was pretty chill overall, I think most people from other countries who trash the US do it to be cool but have never actually been here. To be fair people in the US who trash Europe mostly do it to be cool and have never been there.

People in the UK do die from inaccessible healthcare that consists of blockers such as waiting times, cutting edge treatments too expensive for the NHS (cost : benefit analysis)

Also, the welfare state is subsidised by high-income earners.

Also, no one in the USA is denied healthcare. Bills is something completely different.

And trust me, I was not bashing the country. In fact, all these things I learned them through circles of higher-earning Tory-backers who like their country and want to see it perform better.

OP does have a point. On a related note, the world lives off US innovation and spending. China copies us, Western Europe's economy has been subsidized for 75 yrs by not having to have real militaries, as big bro USA is their military in practice. Plenty of social spending would have to go bye bye in Western Europe if 3-4% more of their GDP had to go toward self defense. US military is overbloated partly because the militaries of Western Europe are a joke and they've demonstrated incapability to take care of conflicts in their neighborhood. Moderate exception, the UK.

So when people from France or Italy brag about their universal healthcare systems they should be thanking Americans. You can spend more frivolously when you're subsidized. I've met some people whose parents bought them their house. They're used to it, so they don't understand why friends of theirs who have about the same household income can't go on as nice vacations as they do.

Look, I am not even engaging with Rabbit that the USA is better I simply do not get why British early 20s always like to bash America in that way.

Literally, so many cancer meds cannot be purchased by a lot of public hospital trusts. On another note, there is always stupidity from public servants in a slow bloated system where NHS has 50-year-long contracts for certain drugs (totally unnecessary).


I for one take the former argument much more seriously than the USA military subsidiaries because there is always a gain from that force and power that comes along.

Lol where? I’ve been to many national parks never needed a permit. You just have to pay the entrance fee

The only permit I’ve ever had to buy is a hunting/fishing license

U can be top 10%, even top 1% easily if born outside the US. You would have to be a total loser as a westerner to not be 10% worldwide.
