F1 is better no doubt.

NASCAR going back to some dirt races is way cool.... Gives NASCAR a unique distinction from others.

NASCAR or stock car racing in the US began during Prohibition with Southern bootleggers outrunning federal revenue agents with illegal moonshine and souped up cars.

This gave us dirt track racing and eventually NASCAR.

I mean, they are literally racing at the F1 track this weekend (Circuit of the Americas). lol

But yea, I get you. But they already have other professional series that race road courses (IMSA). Just hitting the different markets. And if you look at the majority of short tracks, they are ovals as well.

Any sport or activity is nonsensical when you don’t understand it. I’m not a NASCAR fan, but if you talk to people that are while watching a race, they will explain the more subtle parts.

I don't really get it as the car is doing most of the work.

If someone invented some kind of super engine then what?

Would that person win every time?

If there was an obstacle course they were racing through that might be more entertaining.

Big NASCAR fan.

On the surface, I get why everyone just sees it as cars turning left on an track.

Like any sport, once you get to know the rules, the drivers and teams, the nuances of each race and track, it's fascinating.

I enjoy the road races about as much as the circle tracks. The F1 are so overly engineered I can't get into it. So much down force and so much tire, they are just glued to the earth on the track.

I'm a fking nerd.

There are regulations in nascar limiting the cars performance to like 700 horsepower. So unless you designed an engine that can produce that kind o power using far less fuel.

Also a large overlooked aspect of Nascar is the strategy and performance on the pit crew, filling a 22 gallon gas tank and swapping out 4 tires in around 15 seconds is quite the feat. At the cost of on trac performance do you just fuel up, swap the front tires, or swap all 4 etc.

based on when they used to moonshine.

the authorities told them they couldn't manufacturer and distribute alcohol
and their ancestors rebelled. The glorious Scots-Irish legacy of going against the central authority whether it be in the growing taters or keeping your boots on the backs of enslaved Africans or stealing your neighbors pig and making love to it.

Now that rebellion has become ensconced in a tradition
a tradition of huffing JP5 fumes and waving a confederate battle flag, feeling up your sister, while watching some guys drive around a corner a few hundred times.

Nascar is stock car racing. Stock cars are what we used to transport alcohol during prohibition. Ovals allow you to go faster and are cheaper to build. Nascar does race at Watkins Glen and I know they used to race at another road course in California, but I don't think they still do.

A stock car allows you to take more risks and to generally be more aggressive in passing, blocking, etc. If you drove an F1 car like that you'd be dead very quickly. And F1 cars would give you vertigo if you drove them at super speedway.

Nascar is the top circuit for American race car drivers. Part of the reason you don't see Americans in F1 is because Nascar pays them enough to stay closer to home. The Indy Racing League used to be the top racing circuit, but they had all sorts of trouble in the 90s.

Ultimately athletes go where the money is good and they can play at home.

yes, because it bothers me that people who look vaguely like me do a thing. I'm just like: oh no, don't do that, you have a hair cut like mine!!

I'm sure you feel the same thing when people with your same build do so much twink porn.
