Fire pits ? Anyone using a portable fire pit?

Looking at the bio lite but a lot of people like the solo stove. Heard you donโ€™t get much heat out of the solo stove

Yeah, my buddy has one that hooks up to propane.

Works well in the summer since we pretty much always have burn bans in the pnw

Got one in my apartment to use as a heater. Thankfully the flames haven't jumped onto the carpet yet

We have a Breeo smokeless fire pit. Very similar to the SoloStove.

Itโ€™s pretty awesome, no real complaints. However due to the extreme heat at which it burns, it goes through firewood much faster than a regular fire pit. Not a big deal though.

I had a solo stove copy that was a fraction of the cost but the exact same thing.
double walled firepit with holes to cause a reburn effect.

if you used wood pellets you needed to refill it every 7-8 mins. because they burned so fast. annoying.
if you used chunk wood it was a longer burn but you couldn't put a lot into even the 18" model.
the re-burn jet thing it did was cool and really did throw out the heat.

however, portable it may be, you still need to wait for the fire to burn down, then cool down enough to flip over to get the ashes out and bag up.
I really only took it camping because it was perfect size for a grate.
but i couldn't see taking it to friends houses.

I now have an outdoor fireplace with a closed top and short chimney with mesh sides.
it hold enough wood to burn for hours and the small chimney pushes the heat out the sides better on those chilly nights.

Iโ€™m looking for something more to take camping in places you canโ€™t have a ground fire. I have read solo stove style did use a lot of wood which is another negative bc camping I donโ€™t carry loads and loads of wood.

Just get a burn barrel. They last a season or so and pretty cheap. If you have any skills you can cut designs in them.
