Low quality ingredients showing up at restaurants
There's a salad place near me that I used to really like, but they recently replaced their chicken with processed garbage chicken. I'm seeing a lot of cutting corners with ingredients AND increasing prices at restaurants. They will be sorry since they will get no more of my money.
I'll make my own damn salad.

I would bet all my money almost all restaurants do this in some way. They're not obligated to be upfront about their ingredients and how they are sourced, and nobody askss to see the nutrition content anyways.
Restaurants are in the business of making money, so they would be inclined to use the cheapest **** they can find. Most people will keep coming back rather than cook anything

Its tough for restaurants. They are already operating on thin af margins. Chicken breast is around $9/lb at the grocery store in DC. Absolutely unbelievable.
Unless the restaurant is super popular or driven by a celebrity chef, you can expect this trend.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Many restaurants is like this now. Raise the price with lower quality and smaller portions. I don't mind supporting local mom and pop restaurants. It's tough for them. But hate how franchise are making banks and still raise their prices. Got chitpotle yesterday and chit was $18

Had a dose of that reality today too. A few times a month I will grab a chicken panini from this deli near my work and over the last 2 years the quality and service have both went down drastically. Previously it would have 2 layers of chicken, fresh baked bread, a decent amount of cut tomato, ect. Todays panini was a single layer of chicken, smaller - mass produced type bun, tomatoes were skimping and took longer than ever before. Its also 2 dollars more than it was as well. This is a family ran place, I legit like going to places to support the local community, but damn was I disappointed with the way things are heading. The fed is at blame here.

I've been to a couple of chain restaurants and it's very obvious that stuff is being microwaved from frozen for many types of food. It tastes like plastic.
I'd rather spend a bit more and go to a place where I can literally see them prepping the food in a real kitchen. That's much more worth it.

The ONLY thing I can hand to other countries in Europe like Turkey, Greece, and the Middle East is produce quality. Vegetables and cheeses. Even Canada does food better than rest of world.
McDonalds and chit don't count, and even then it's still better in the USA. Only thing I've had better internationally than the USA was KFC in the Netherlands.
Straight facts.

Been a chef a long time, there is very few things I will eat at restaurants. Unless I know I want the garbage.
