none of those but did smoke some weed oil somewhat regularly and I would bet that is a likely culprit, he got some laced with vitamin E. I advised him not to smoke weed oil because of that possibility of issues. I think if you're less healthy your unlikely to survive and die instantly it but he had 3 days before going to ER

No, the hallmark presentation is usually just sudden onset rapid breathing and a fast heat rate. They aren’t extremely uncommon. If you see them in young people it’s usually the young female, on birth control and smokes. Likely and underlying issue that can increase clotting (genetic or cancer) plus maybe something like a long flight to cause blooding pool in leg veins to clot. The small ones they often do nothing but if your buddy had embolectomies that’s pretty legit.

Huge or multiple PEs can cause right ventricular failure (obstructive shock) and death, it’s usually not oxygenation issues that causes them to die (if you think about it, many people live with one lung so infarcting pieces of a lung shouldn’t be too huge of a deal).

We found PEs in so many Covid patients. Hypercoagulability is a well known side effect of Covid (maybe the vaccine causes it through the same mechanism although at a much lower rate).

Sudden sharp, searing pain is absolutely a common symptom of a PE once it moves to the lungs/heart. OP posted that his roommate had pain similar to a broken rib.

Maybe? The first 36 hours they were approved we had multiple teens come in with Thrombi

Young people almost never suffer from infarction/PE; it's so rare you can go 20 years without seeing it unless something directly causes them

In the last 8 years I can think of one case where a 23 year old college athlete came in with a DVT that was caused by an injury

You could wake up dead at any moment. That's the way she goes. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't go, for your buddy she didn't go, and that's the way she goes.

Responsible for most post operation deaths in hospital. Mostly from being bedridden for so long.
