Long hair bros get in here

I’ve been growing mine for about 6 months it’s a little past my chin now.

Any tips on shampoos or hair stuff?

I don't know bro I just clean it with basic shampoo or it gets scratchy

Don't really have a routine or anything, gotta long ass beard too and gotta wash it or it gets scratchy

My girl loves it though which I don't understand but I don't really mind it either

Cut it brah. I grew my hair out to shoulders over COVID years. I’d tie it back into a nice bun, but I was losing tons of hair. Got tons of compliments from the sloots on the bun but it wasn’t worth it for my hairline. I have baby hairs again on my temples/hairline now after cutting it.

Don't try to tie it back until at least 1.5-2 years...just wear hats and use head bands until then. Doing it too early will make your hair thin out because it's not healthy to pull it back that tight, needs some slack. Use conditioner every day so that it's easier to comb. Shampoo 1-2 times per week. You've got another year of awkwardness before you can tie it up properly but it's worth the wait IMO.

Back when I briefly worked at a grocery store in a rich area of town years ago, all the gold digging trophy wives, with long beautiful hair, would come in and buy two shampoos and conditioners almost exclusively. Moroccan Argon Oil and Hello Hydration by Herbal Essences.

I just use conditioner 3x a week, comb it with a wide tooth comb. I haven't used any shampoo for almost a year now. I get next to no hair shedding, too. It all really boils down to what your hair type is as mine gets dry quite a bit. If your hair is oily then maybe a light shampoo would be good, but I found even if you put shampoo on the scalp it can still dry out the strand of the hair, too.

not sure how growing long hair contributes to hairloss. gonna need more evidence.

Find the best conditioner for you. I tried many and settled with Mane N Tail.

Put coconut oil 1-2x a week, leave it overnight. Srs. Member of long hair forums.

I wash my hair twice a week. Shampoo and condition. When you shampoo only wash your scalp. When I condition i do not use conditioner on my scalp... only on the hair that goes from the back of my neck down.

After washing I just squeeze my hair w/ a towel to get excess water out then brush it and dry with a hair dryer. It's not good to let your hair just air dry from a wet state.

Lotta the times my wife braids my hair and i leave it in braids overnight or for the next 2 days. Awesome texture this way.

fuaaark I avoid heat/hair dryer since I figured this was bad, so 9/10 I just let it air dry (only use heat when I really don't have the time)

so confused right now

Not gonna lie... most of the information I get is from my wife. She is really good friends with a hairdresser and also watches a chitload of yt videos about the subject.

Hair dryer on low/medium heat is where it's at. not conditioning your scalp doesn't let the top of your hair get as oily from what i gather. it's worked very well for me

You didn’t answer my question

What do you mean by only wash the scalp? How do you wash the scalp without washing the hair?

Use 1-2 pumps into your hand, lather between hands for a second the simply massage the shampoo into your scalp. Not sure how to break it down further but you do not want to shampoo your entire hair.

"Shampoo is a detergent used to clean your scalp of bacteria and product build-up, which sits on the scalp. The dirt, sebum, and dead skin live at the scalp, not 12 inches out on your ends. So lather at scalp only. The shear action of the lather rinsing through your ends is enough to cleanse them."

Was unaware of this, thanks for info. That should reduce cleaning time a lot too

I basically just bought some nice womens shampoo and conditioner with the oils and stuff in it. Worked well, had long hair for close to 3 years

Its super fun for a while but it gets old eventually. Be careful about throwing it in a tight man bun though, that **** pulls your hair out and after a year or so of a bun everyday you're going to get thin hair there... It grows back but i cut my hair because of it
