Does the inside of a coat/jacket matter? Tinfoil batman

I ordered this Columbia coat because I knew i would be going hiking/fishing and would need something for that purpose. The outside looked legit:




It came through Amazon and the inside looks like:

I dunno bro I have a few Columbia jackets and a Columbia parka. They don't have weird tinfoil **** on the insides but they get warm and comfy as fug, dead srs. It's not sherpa-lined on the inside it's got that same material as the outer layer, and it keeps plenty warm.

It’s for recirculating body heat

I have a pair of glove liners made with the foil I wear Skiing when it gets blow single digits.

I dunno, one of the jackets I have is moreso a rain jacket. It repels water pretty well, but doesn't warm so much. I don't think what's in the pic is a knock-off as it seems to have a lot of the same details as my few jackets (minus the foil)

I have tons of Columbia stuff and it's great.

I have hoodies and omni heat sweaters and if I layer those up, I rarely need a jacket in winter and I tend to be cold a lot.

It's high quality and light weight.

I have 3 Columbia jackets. Most recent one has that same liner. How tf did you not research what you bought first? It’s supposed to be there, of course.

Probably some elaborate LARP by Columbia where the material they use somehow radiates the sun's heat back onto you but they found that, in A/B testing groups, actually having the inside of the jacket look like tin foil elicted a more positive response from the subjects who were brought in to state their inane opinions about the product design.

Cool coat though OP srs.

Just lmao @ copers saying it's to regulate heat etc.

The foil liner is to send reflective signals to the search and rescue chopper because Columbia's customer base are the kind of retards who will die 30 yards from the trail after getting lost. If you don't want to get lost you need to buy Patagonia srs.

Looks like a good coat. I was going to get a new one for winter dog walking, I heard Carhartt ones were really good quality?

Currently use a barbour wax coat and wear jumpers underneath. Have had it for like 10 years now and it's still solid.

Canada Goose Chiliwack Bomber for snow/skiing sub 0 temps.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I usually don’t like anything Moncler. A few jackets are okay, but a lot look like puffy trash bags. And I avoid Canada Goose because the brand flashing is so cringe. I admittedly bough one for my 4 year old daughter, but that was much cheaper, guaranteed warm, and looked cute af on her. Inb4 negs

Yeah I've never considered if I like moncler or not because the price point is outrageous. If I want to spend a bit more money on a jacket I look towards technical brands like Spyder, Descent or Arcteryx.

CG is trendy af but warm so maybe it evens out? I'd be looking to buy used clothes for kids since they grow so quickly. I like recycling though, not for everyone.

I have a Columbia hat with the dots. It was always warm, the dots washed off over time and it’s still warm. So not sure if they actually do anything.
