I don't think a sport is valid if only certain body types can do it. I have never used a skateboard but it looks like only very skinny, short, low center of gravity types excell. I am not sure a tall and heavy athletic person would have the same abilities.

Yeah you never see skateboarders with a helmet on. Me and probably like 4 of my buddies have been knocked out cold for 15 minutes with seizures all while having helmets on. I have very rarely seen or heard of serious skateboard injuries. All those other sports you listed, its almost unheard of to see someone never pay their dues.

Skateboarding does take a good bit of technical skill, but they are definitely not up there when it comes to having a huge nutsack. Most people probably don't even realize the halfpipes the snowboarders are on are twice as big as a bmx/skate halfpipe. Then those jumps have like 70ft gaps.

Snowboarding, mountain biking and freestyle motocross are the pinnacle when it comes to ballsack size.

This. I have some of the best parts money can buy. Titanium parts and everything. Still can barely get it over $2k. If I really really tried I could get it to $3k. You probably cant even find an entry level downhill mtb for that cost lol.

Seeing these guys in videos is one thing, but it really blows your mind seeing what they can do in person at a spot you're familiar with. I used to practically live at Southside Skatepark, and most of the guys in this clip were regulars there. The things they would do just fukking around at their local park were mind blowing. And they weren't even the creme de la creme, these were B-list guys in their prime -

It really is an incredibly difficult sport, I skated for like 12 years, got pretty good but also trashed my hips doing it. It is far more difficult than any team sport.

My first love in extreme sports was BMX, but my parents didn't want to spend $400 on a bike, so I started skating. When you're good at a sport that you started young, I think that it's just coincidence what the sport actually is. If I was able to snowboard or mountain bike as a kid like I was able to skate, who knows what sport I would actually have chosen to do for over a decade.

Extreme sports all require a certain individual. So many people you meet all have a similar story of "oh I tried (extreme sport) and fell bad and quit" extreme sport athletes are outliers that will keep going for years or decades instead.

The most extreme and difficult sport that has ever existed at a high level is Alpinism. The amount of courage you need when- not a couple people get head injuries- but when your peers are dying regularly, is supernatural.

I actually wouldn't put mountain biking too high up because the relative danger of the sport can be decided by the rider. BMX is definitely more dangerous. I know 65 year old mountain bikers who just cruise around tame single track and have a blast doing it. The big mountain free-riders are kind of nuts, but also there's pros in that category who haven never broken a bone...

I'm surprised that BMX hasn't adopted some MTB technology. MTB components are light years ahead of BMX. You guys still use profile cranks LOOOOL. My carbon cranks weigh the same as air and were under $200. Not to mention carbon frames, carbon wheels... I used to ride BMX and now that I've crossed over to MTB, I'm constantly mind=blown at how little BMX tech has evolved since I was in middle school.
