This is what six hair transplants & scalp micropigmentation looks like

Over the past decade, I made misc threads on what my 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th hair transplants all looked like. This will actually have to be my last - the doctors say it's literally impossible to perform the surgery on me any more.

When I turned 30, I had my first procedure - an FUT strip method. Within the following 10 years, I had two additional FUT method transplants, followed by three FUE procedures. The most recent FUE surgery, which occurred just shy of my 40th birthday, utilized a new technique called DHI implanter (basically it extracts the donor hair and implants it way more rapidly). In this case they took whatever few hairs I had left in the donor zone, as well as neck hair that fall below where a beard would grow.

As my hair began to grow back, I noticed the back of my head was sparse given how much donor hair had been removed from that area. (Also, I previously had a visible scar from the linear strip FUT method, and had a few FUE hairs implanted in it to cover it). This brought me to having SMP (scalp micropigmentation) done. I had it done while my head was still shaved/short from the most recent transplant and it creates the appearance of thickness by darkening the scalp.

So that brings us to now, after several months of growth. I'm due for a haircut and will get it more styled, but on this particularly windy day, here's the comparison with a pic of me at 27 vs me at 36ish (cleaned up) vs me at 41



I'm growing my hair out on the top (but not sides) intentionally as I'll be aiming for a pompadour or more volumous high 'n tight the next time I get a haircut.
Also I'm no longer on finasteride. There's no point as at this point every hair in the "male hair loss zone" is a transplanted hair.

I usually keep my hair pretty short, and at some point will probably return to the below style (image of my one attempt at cutting my own hair, about 2 years ago):




However, I love these styles and I'm growing out my top to attempt to achieve them. These will be the photos I show the stylist in a few months:

No - none whatsoever. If I still had native hair up top, then I'd take finasteride. But every hair that's in the traditional "hair loss zone" up top is a transplanted hair from either my donor area or my front neck.

The hair transplants are limited on how many hairs they can migrate in a single session. For me to achieve my pompadour dream, I needed to move A LOT of hair, as you could see from the first "before" pic at age 27.

Very interesting. What had put me off in the past was having to take the drugs to maintain it, very good to know that isn't the case.

Who was your doctor? What's the total number of grafts harvested? How dense does it look wet with bright lighting and no hair fibers?

It looks crazy dense under all lighting. No hair fibers were used in the posted pics. That's the SMP working.


The SMP was done in Houston by SCALPP Clinic:

The most recent transplant was in Turkey by Dr. Serkan AYGIN Clinic.

Before that I had surgeries with Rahal, Konior and ASMED Clinic. Very happy with all of them, no complaints.


Total number of grafts was like 15k hairs. Remember that's including body hair. But also it was so many that it left me needing to do smp to make the back of my head presentable.

great job on the hair. i got FUT last august and its growing out, but nowhere near your density. i was NW3, came in for 2300 grafts but left with 2700. i'm going to wait another year so to see if the density gets better; if not, then i'll get another HT

It's 100% permanent. Okay not the smp, that's designed to fade after a few years, and touch ups are often made. But the transplanted hairs remain forever because they're from the donor zone. Those follicles have a layer of saturated fat at the root/base of the hair that protects the shaft from DHT & enzyme alpha-reductase-II from making it thinner and fall out. The hair you lose at the top due to male pattern baldness doesn't have that fat layer in the follicle, hence it eventually falls out.

All of my hair on my head now has that extra protective layer so it'll stay this way for good.

The turkish clinics were like $5k each. The US & Canadian docs aren't cheap though. I'd estimate total cost of about $40k or $45k for everything.

1- you look significantly better so good job brah. I dont ever see myself doing this I'm ok with ending up bald. But if you're happy then props

2-these hair transplant doctors haven't mastered the hairline yet. The hairlines are always a giveaway that it's a transplant. Yours isnt too bad but some brahs have brutal hairlines.
