is the average person miserable?

I’m at the train station this morning, catching a train to the city bc I’m going into the office today (gay)

Walking to the stairway to the platform, some 50something year old woman is sort of in the way, fumbling with her phone and bag, so I give her a moment to collect herself and get out of the way, and it’s taking a few extra seconds so I weave around her and say “excuse me”

She turns around as I’m walking down the stairs and exclaims “same to you *******”

Lol?

Especially in metropolitan areas, I feel peoples guards are always up, people are always on the defensive, and sort of always assume the worst. Obviously this woman isn’t indicative of humans in general, but I see behavior like this constantly.

People taking offense to the most minor of perceived offenses (ded fkn Srs)

i think the average person is too stupid to exist in a constant state of misery

people are irritable and anxious when they are packed like sardines and going to/from work. i would guess that more than half of them are not "morning persons" and at least 20% are hung over regardless of what day of the week it is.

that's life, king.

Of course most people are miserable. This society main goal is happiness and the avoidance of suffering.

When your only goal is avoiding suffering your happiness is low dull white noise.

Can you ever truly enjoy and savor chocolate to its fullest extent if you've forced yourself to avoid broccoli? If all you ever ate was chocolate you would have no idea how delicious it is and you would grow to hate and resent chocolate...Happiness is the same way.

most people just cope cause they have to, like guys married to some ugly chick who gets fatter every year, is a colossal bore and just an all round pain in the ass but tells himself he's the luckiest man alive for finding his soul mate

Over the years I have tried to remind myself that I never really have a deep understanding of what a stranger might be going through at that moment in time in their lives. Everyone im sure has had moments of "acting out" due to circumstances that are going on in their lives and lashing out in the wrong places. I am trying (its hard) to be empathetic towards these actions.......

Are most average people miserable? I am not sure......from the outside looking in I would guess yes.

^^^this is all true

HOWEVER

The average IQ for a person is 100
People on an average income usually live in areas with other people on average incomes
They go to work with other people on average incomes
They never see any real success to compare themselves to
They think a Lexus is a “fancy” car
They only person they might see who is only marginally more successful than them is their boss, who they hate
They cope by telling themselves all rich people did something underhanded to get there
They are easily distracted by the issues the MSM tells them to care about or be outraged about
They think the increase in the nominal dollar value of their house is a good thing and shows their superior financial management

Basically they are idiots who are too dumb to understand how they are being exploited day in day out

In the end Winston loves big brother

He is happy

Yea consciousness is a real bitch.

In first world countries, survival isn’t really an issue unless you’re legit homeless. Once you’ve got the security of having food and shelter and not worrying about surviving on a daily basis, your life becomes more about finding meaning. A lot of people fill that need by having kids. A lot of people are also more aware of the meaninglessness of life and can’t quite find any. So yea it’s inevitable for the human brain to adapt and get used to however good we have it. We’ll never truly be happy.

She was definitely having a bad day. But a lot of average people are unhappy. They sit in traffic to and from work, then have a majority of their time (which is working) dictated by someone with more power than them.

With the addition of bills and other general hardships of life, the lack of control they feel turns into frustration. Frustration turns to anger. Anger turns into hopelessness.

At this point we split into different paths. People either force a change at the anger stage after they crack or they wallow in hopelessness waiting for someone to come save them.

This isn't true about all average people. I also see a lot of content wagies who work their job then go home while enjoying their life.

Hey bb

The new job I started in January is seriously a grinder. I used to work maybe 2 hrs a day, and now I’m doing 9 hr days and traveling to meet with clients a lot soon. Trying to focus as much as I can on that, and plus I’ve been in a relationship the past 10 months, so without degenmaxxxing, my life has become pretty boring and not a ton of content for me to post on the misc about

Based on the obesity rate, I'd say the level of misery correlates almost exactly with each persons BMI lol.

The problem for a lot of average people is that they have a bad habit of wanting to improve some aspect of their life that they won't actually put the time into improving. They'd be mucj better off giving up and putting it out of their head.

Weight loss is an easy enough example of this. Some 40yr old bloke wants to get back to his high school days. He thinks about it, he compares himself to the past, to others, to what he imagines he could become if he put in the effort.

A part of him knows he won't put in the work. This part of him greets him first thing in the morning with something like "wake up you fat ****, we have **** all to do." Everytime he thinks about it this mocking voice taunts him and reminds him that he will never get his **** together.

That's the voice you heard this morning when the old bitty said what she said. Have empathy. You may have heard it in passing but she lives with it everyday, throughout the day. If it caught your attention and made you think about posting this thread imagine how she feels living with herself. You walked away but there is no escape for people like this from themselves.

People can fake being a nice guy. But when they're an ******* you can be sure you're dealing with who they really are when push comes to shove.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

I think a lot are because mostly I just hear people complaining about stuff like at work today it's all I've been hearing and nothing interesting or wholesome.

There's so much interesting and wholesome stuff out there to discuss like lifting and going on vacations to see the mountains and beaches but I never hear any of this stuff
