Is a 67 second 400m good?

Just popped this off on my latest track workout. Felt like I had a good second or two left.

not really

high school girls are generally below 60 seconds
According to the USATF website, the average time for a high school male runner in a 400-meter race is 54 seconds and 58 seconds for females of that age group. For the average Joe off the streets, 70 to 90 seconds would be an average time for the 400m. With elite runners running between 45 and 47 seconds.

Not sure, but when I was in h.s, under 60 seconds was considered good.

You aren't a hardcore runner if you don't run below 60.

I'd guess running 60/53/49 as probably being like benching 2/3/4. Matt London'a 53s 400 while being as big as he is is really impressive.

I prefer longer distances but decided to do track stuff today. Started doing track stuff a few weeks ago. I'm gonna keep doing this and if I cant shave 7 seconds off in a couple months I'll buy some rope

I started running a year and a half ago and usually prefer longer distances. 53 seconds though is ridiculous.

Shaving time off 200s is the best way to train to be better at 400.

33. I prefer longer distances, so I feel theres some noob gains to be had here in the upcoming months. I'm gonna aim for a sub 60.

1/4 of a 400m dash is 100m.

67 divided by 4 is 16.75.

The average girl in middle school runs faster than that.

It's impossible to keep the same pace for 400m though. op probs has around a 13 sec 100m

67s is average. I didn't run the 400 regularly (I was middle distance 800 and 1600 mostly) but my best 400 time in high school was 54s. If you're not sub 50s you're going to get smoked by any decent high school runner.

I thought 20 min 5k is a pretty decent number for someone who isn't a serious runner though? (unless you are a lil twink).

I'd be pretty happy if I can run 5k in 20 min considering I train oly weightlifting and MMA + weigh 215 lb.

If you have "Misc runners" in your sig I'd say you consider yourself a serious runner. I'm not saying I could run a 20min now. I haven't been a runner for almost 20 years, but when I was, I was low 17s for a 5K and I wasn't even that good.
