If you had the chance to get revenge on everyone who did you wrong, would you take it

Let’s say you could beat up (or worse) anyone who ever harmed you at any point in your life. No repercussions.
Would you wreck some somebody who was chitty to when you were kids? Even if it's decades later?
Would you kick the chit out of somebody for being an ******* on the road?

If there were no repercussions for you, would you be a more violent person, and hold people accountable for things? Is the law the only thing that holds you back from it?

Edit: the reason I ask this is to see how many people find vengeance better than forgiveness, and live with that belief.

I think you aren’t alone there. I’ve talked to close friends about this, and thoughts of getting back at people, even many years later, are on their minds. And people just live that way, with that kind of anger always in them. I have it in me as well. It just gets me thinking, what is the point? Is the person you beat up even the same person who wronged you?

No srs

It’s rent free and I don’t really care about it anymore

There would come a point of severity where the rules would change though. For example, if someone murdered my family, you bet your ass I’d be looking for revenge

Yeah. Letting everything go makes the worst people win. We're human, not part of nature.

What is the point if you do not defend anything?

Already did and they are serving 15 years in prison for their actions. Didn't do it for my own welfare though, had to help someone else in need. I tend to think forgiveness is always the best choice and I do forgive that particular person

Yes I would.. an accident is an accident but when friends/family do it to you 3-4 times its no accident my friend.

cut the toxic people like that out of my family, but sweet revenge that wouldn't keep me from my kids (jail time) would be legit.

not physical, more like emotional wreckage

No, turn the other cheek is what Jesus said. Easier said than done, though. I know I have sinful thoughts of revenge.

If someone stitches me up at work (very rare but it happens) then I’m likely at some point in the future to throw them under their bus.

But it’s not a goal.

Well it is very wrong because it emboldens and enables the aggressor and they just become more aggressive.
What if they change? What if they person that you exact vengeance on is nothing like the person who harmed you anymore? Is vengeance still justified?

There's an old science fiction movie called Barbarella and one character is an angel.

Lots of insane things happen and this evil woman tries to kill the angel and then she is in danger. The angel picks up Barbarella (female hero) and the Evil woman to fly them to safety.

Barbarella asks the angel why he is saving the woman who tried to kill him. The movie ends with the angel saying, "Didn't you know...angels have no memory".

When I was younger I didn't quite understand it but now I do. When something bad happens I tend to see it as a separate event in everyone's life. It's not what is happening now, it's what happened then, so it's over.

On top of that, it seems like most people are animals and they end up metaphorically pooping on the rug a lot. They don't mean it and so what are you going to do?

So, I forget about negative things easily, but when I was younger if I could fling lightning from my fingers a lot of people would be dead.
If you want to ask me a question:

Well you can still ignore them and stay away from them. God knows there are warnings and evil people out there and doesn't want us to be around them.

I believe people have the capacity to learn, grow, and change-to the point where they are totally different people from who they were many years ago. I think harming a person like that isn’t far off becoming the same type of person that caused you harm. Just shooting out some thoughts here.

Lots will.

Forgiveness in a religious sense is more directed towards children.
I think the full allegories say something along the lines of how you need them to make it for future generations to survive.

A mature response allows some degree of getting on with the world in the face of inevitable crime.

It is a system designed for conflicts, so no 'free' answer exists.

I theorize competitive nature leads everyone to want to win, and family values, trying to build a better future to live in, is the right pro-social orientation of this competitive spirit we all possess.

Since fair weather does not always exist, we cannot let the robbers run off with everything. A centralized responsibility, as in many cultures (French, certain Asian) most religions, healthy nuclear families, etc. is the ingredient to orient human competitive nature in anti-family cultures

I'd 100% wreck everyone who ever crossed me, even in early childhood, if I wouldn't go to jail.

That would be a gift from heaven.

Some people are just crap people. By them doing me wrong they proved more about them than me, except for the fact that I allowed it to happen or I didn't take precautions to keep it from happening.

I have a firm belief that what comes around goes around and it would be sweet to witness the moment their own bullchit come back around and bite their ass.

no, because there is nothing more pathetic than someone who is full of bitterness, jealously. and resentment towards others for past events.

your mind is a fortress. the past is gone, and the future may never come. live in the present.

learn to control your thoughts. it's a valuable skill and will bring you peace for the rest of your life.

No, I don't think I would

I think its a waste of energy. What possitive is it going to do for me--it's just going to take away energy from me that I could better invest in something better.

I'm using my energy for myself. Not on another person that did nothing but take away from me.
