Been a while since I upgraded my setup. I just upgraded my pc which should be here in a week.

I figured I might as well look at my monitor situation as well. Prev had 3 monitor setup. 2-24" and one 30"
Decided to give the Samsung g9 49"monitor a shot. And used my 30 in portrait mode. Also added streamdeck XL.

Looks bigger in real life. 66" wide desk for reference.

Buying new furniture to go with this since it does not fit on current desk.

Anyway....still playing with setups. Using 'fancy zones' and have several setups. For productivity I have it set up like 5 monitors. All hot-key swappable from streamdeck..etc.

Thanks man. Been a while for me, but was not sure I would like the curve. But worked on it today and loved it. LOVING the stream deck. I dont use it for it's main intended purpose. It is very powerful for CAD and 3d work. Has a nice screen saver too!

My son built my keyboard. I choose Yunzii akko switches. I like tactile. And pudding caps. He silicone filled the base and lubed all the switches. I let him do it how he wanted and he was excited to run with it.

Dont want to be one of those dudes always talking about what they 'MIGHT' do. I just decide and do it. But some things are in the works. Nothing huge. Just fun stuff.

Gotcha. Not much going on since last track day. REALLY head over heels for the little lotus we are tracking. SO much fun. Just bought a spare trans, and picked up a motor for a high boost build. Going to do the engine build myself. Never done internal build of a motor before and I like learning new stuff, so I am going to do both the tranny build and motor.


On the track, this car is just way too much fun. @2nd pic is my son cornering in it. You can see how light right wheels are. That was a couple weeks ago. His last track day as a 14 year old.

Life is good! Ready for some nice weather for sure!

Yea the possibilities of the arrangement are really amazing. A windows power tool called Fancy Zones let you split displays up into any config you want. I am just only scratching the surface of how to set things up best for me, but with this and a the stream deck, I can launch programs, move to zones etc, all the press of a single button. Then all the software I use can be programmed in also. Really it can go as deep as you want it.

I am kind of a geek at heart also. Computers are a tool that has allowed me to do something I have zero training for....yet, somehow I am paid to do stuff. No degrees here. College drop out....

Streamdeck purely for productivity. Mostly CAD. Infinitely programmable and means I dont have to take my right hand off my mouse. Used a programmable game pad for years and finally going with this. And LOVE it!

Entire new set of furniture coming for my home office. This is a BIG desk and it is not even big enough. 66"" wide and 30" deep. So setting all this stuff up prompted me to look at how I might set up everything.

Also get an extension cable for the mouse or switch to something wireless. Wireless 2.4ghz tech for peripherals nowadays is low latency (if any latency at all) and will clean up your desk a bit.

Make my living with a mouse. Extra programmable buttons mapped to commands. That is a very good mouse. Not worried about latency just functionality my friend.

OP : Nice setup. I have a large curved monitor like that at home, but at work, I prefer two side by side landscape monitors, easier for multiple windows for me. I work a lot in Oracle Netsuite, and its CSV based, so one screen with netsuite - other with excel. While I dont do the CAD work here directly anymore, I still have a seat of fusion & solidworks on my comp and I can open either as well for reference/review/recommend changes.

Yea, I ran 3 monitors for YEARS. Figured I would give something else a try. So far loving it. But it takes tweaking of layout breaking up to make sense and get most out of it.

I am almost 50. Perfect vision, BUT my near vision has started to go last year or so. Anything closer than 12" gets hard to see. I like my icons big. I tend to get clutter in my desktop and it forces me to house clean every once in a while

No gaming as said. Used to game. My son is a big gamer and I think it is cool. Finding the time to always hit the gym and play with cars is pretty much how I spend my fun time. I can get sucked into spending way too much time gaming so I just dont do it.

I bought the 240hz monitor which is kinda pointless, but it was only 150 more than the 144 so I figured I would buy the higher rated incase I did not like it and wanted to give to my son for gaming. Other monitor is a dell I bought years back and used to serve as my primary. 2560x1440 so it plays very nicely with the scale of the 5120x1440.

The curve is nice. Actually makes viewing easy across such a wide monitor. I was worried that doing CAD would distort my cursor and make lines look bent. But that is a non-issue. So many reasons why this works great. I am now sold on the one portrait along with it. Was originally going to put one or two above it. Now I am glad I tried this.
