it's usually a result of parents that raised kids in an unfortunate mix of poor education, evangelical christian upbringing, and low household income combined with scapegoating about why their life sucks. it's also been studied and shown that belief in conspiracy theories is strongly correlated with low self esteem and poor mental health in general.

I feel like Q was a bit more than CT gibberish. People tried to turn it into a whole good vs evil axis and there are some "mysterious" good people working behind the scenes akin to angels or some shiet. Some kind of thirst to believe there is more to life than their miserable life that they themselves made nothing out of, so they cling to hoping at least someone else is fighting the good fight since they are too retarded to do so themselves.
