Early 30s

Late 40s

Most people earn on average 1M in their lifetime. Have all of that as a net worth outside the cost of living is exceptional.

90% dont have 10k in the bank
If youre a dude in your 20s with 10k in the bank you are already doing better than 90% of americans srs. 1M net worth is 1% **** srs.

I'm early 30s, and I don't have 100k in the bank. About 70% of that, but this is purely cash in the bank; the balance of my bank account. Not accounting for the entirety of everything I own, though.
Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

If you are 30, you should have minimum 200k saved. By 40, at least 400k, then 50 years old should be past 500k, close to or past a million like Gordonxxx.

200K - 28
500K - 35
1M - 42
2M - 49

I figure
$100k 25/26
$200k 30
$500k 35
1m 44
2m 58.
1st 100k is the worst as you gotta get to the point you are earning significantly more than cost of living/paying back student loans, vehicle loans. Most college grads start big boy jobs 22ish-24. Next 100k is easier as you are likely paying towards home ownership which helps significantly for net worth. Getting past 1m gets tougher as your standard of living goes up as you get used to being well off financially. Combining that with having children and adding to net worth gets tough, but retirement accounts and homes probably continue to appreciate while you contribute a bare minimum to both presuming you even have a home payment left by 44 years old. I figured 14 years to double from 1m to 2m because home appreciation likely won't contribute much and most won't leverage home equity for growth so home value sits dead in the water relatively. Many people start scaling back from high demand jobs and people start realizing money in the bank isn't everything when they start seeing that the end of life is closer than far away.

You live off of 2k/month, so you save/invest 116k
Let's be conservative and say you have 125k after year 1 (small amount of stock growth)
Year 2 you should get a comp increase/promo and make a bit more

even then, 140 - 24 (for rent) = 116... no other expenses? food, gas, insurances, car, dating, having fun, travel, student loans potentially. you probably aren't living a ramen noodle lifestyle making 200k. assuming rent is 2k/month... in HCOL that's possible with roommates, but it can get up to 2.5k/4k if you are in NYC or SF for example if a 1 BR.

Lol misc e statting
Will say some of the numbers presented here are possible, but I have friends in IB on Wall Street and don’t have the net worth numbers here (500k in 20s). Sure the tech numbers are possible but lol at 2k a month in that scenario. If you’re FAANG and living in California that isn’t happening.
It “could” but most likely won’t.
IMO a great stretch goal is 1M by 40. This was made in the white coat investor - a financial books for doctors. If that’s a good mid life net worth goal for a physician it’s good enough for me

For myself... I'm age 26, been working in Cyber security for 4 years, got a Bachelor's degree in Comp Sci and 3 relevant security certifications, debt free, but I did lose like 35k of my money on gambling last year.
Including Roth 401k and Roth IRA, car which is paid off, emergency fund, I'm sitting at around $80k net worth. Note I'm a rentcel, but I can save anywhere between 25k-35k per year, not including investment growth.
100k - age 27 - my roth retirement accounts covers the bulk of this though, car I'm sure is gonna depreciate, should have some non-retirement investments going too
200k - age 31 - I think even 30 is possible with steady growth investing, but it feels safer to say 31
500k - age 37 - Can only guess at this point, seems so far away
1 M - age 41 - Still guessing really, not much thought / math behind this idea
Multi M - age 45+ - for 2mill+
When considering investing, I figure it's 3-5 years for your net worth, or at least a given investment account, to double, and by this I mean including your own contributions along the way.
Note: Numbers might grow more in my favor, in terms of net worth / age, once I buy a property, which is likely gonna be in my early 30's.
