Propane Firepit when camping?

Anyone just say fk it and carrying a bunch of wood and use propane? No smell either after

I've been camping my entire life and use fires for cooking 99% of the time but I'll bring a small propane stove to boil water in the early AM or heat up a stew or something like that. You're camping so you have to expect all of your gear to smell like smoke. It's just part of the experience.

I've cooked steaks on fire pit rocks. That's always a lot of fun.
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

There's basically no point in camping if you can't make a fire. Sitting in the middle of the woods in the darkness. The fire is what makes camping what it is. There's something primal about sitting around a campfire in the forest in the dead of night.

I prefer to stay in my 50' 5th wheel camper where there is AC, Satellite TV and no yucky bugs.

JK, I do prefer real fires all day over propane. Those solo fire pits are actually pretty amazing for when a guy is camping in dispersed area or just don't want to deal with a smoky fire.

Real fire only when camping but I bring a small propane grill for most of the cooking.

Ever hear of an INVERTER or GENERATOR? No? That's because you're not Camp maxxer and tradie by night like me. You wouldn't understand volts, amps, ohms, BTU's, wattages, transformers,110's/220's and stuff like me so you just keep starting forest fires n schit.

Not truly camping without a fire imo.

I cook on the fire too, but I use a portable flame for boiling water though.

Why not just bring a generator, an oven, air compressor, wifi hotspot, television, air mattresses and some bright pink bed sets complete with throw pillows so you can really relax out there?

Half my camping is in the backcountry where weight is king. I'm not packing anything not needed because I need as much room in that pack as I can for hauling out meat. That being said, I carry a jet boil for cooking and matches for a fire if necessary. Usually I'm so exhausted by the time it gets dark I just go to bed because I'll be up way before sunrise so a fire is more for heat than light.

Look up Last Light. They have a solar powered battery pack and led tape light that is awesome for lighting up your camp site

You don't need to pack anything for a camp fire in the back country. As long as there is no fire ban, Make a pit out of rocks, find some sticks and bam. I'll do this a lot for a small fire while I sip on some scotch before bed. In the morning bury it and disperse the rocks. I also spend a lot of time in the BC.

i just made an alcohol stove out of two 12 oz chicken cans.
i'll use that to boil water in my kettle for my freeze dried food when on the trail.

I’ve got a pop up fire pit that is actually pretty cool. Stainless mesh that the wood sits on.

There’s wood, I’m in Alaska. I just camp out of the back of my truck and storage is an issue.

I was looking at the solo since the ground is either damp up here or super dry. But everyone says the radiant heat sucks. I went with the pop up one with a stainless mesh
