Overthrow Putin for whom? The next KGB/oligarch dude? The wholesale demonization of Russians is overblown, I'll give you that but the whole "Putin's support" angle is entirely meaningless.

E. Poddubny, one of the best Russian military field correspondents has interviewed a surrendered Ukrainian soldier. This interview is absolutely significant.
- I came out of the encirclement and surrendered voluntarily. Not far from Bolshaya Komyshevaha settlement.
-Tell us about how you managed to come out, how you got surrounded.
- On the 13th we were sent out to help another group. In case if the enemy breaks through we had to help them recede, but the column moved too fast, that group did have time to back off, and we started backing off on our own. There were 13 of us and a platoon commander. We crossed three fields, on the edge of the fourth field the settlement was starting, a few people couldn't walk and were lagging behind. I decided to stay with them, to let them rest, the platoon commander continued forward with the rest of the guys. I was trying to lead a group of four people and got captured.
- What kind of mood there is in the Brigade?
- Righ now the moods are bad, the brigade is upset. During the last two weeks we have had serious battles, big losses, many dead and wounded. People refuse to go on the attack or stand positions.
- Can you remind me your last name again.
- Vediashov.
- Vediashov... Can you explain how come a man with the Russian last name Vediashov got convinced that Russians were his enemies?
- They mislead me... Propaganda... I can't say for sure.
- Just what is this all about, in 2014 they started shouting " Butcher all Moscovits " across Ukraine. Ukrainian Regime kept claiming they were in at war with Russia... And now Vediashov is shooting Ivanov, Petrov is shooting Petrenko, what is this all about?
- Look I have been fighting since 2019, I needed money and this is why I joined the army. There were very few jobs in civilian life. They had raised the military salaries. I had to join...

All I can say it is VERY VERY fortunate luck that America is not actively involved in any wars right now. If US were, Putin would arm America's enemies to the teeth as payback. He would arm the Taliban with everything they need to inflict x10 the damage. As a matter of fact, it is probably a good idea for US to never put boots on the ground in any region again because Russia will want revenge for the arming of Ukraine. The stupid military industrial complex won't allow America to rest so I just know that our next war will be as bloody as Ukraine is for Russia because Russia will go all out with military support.

You're absolutely right: Putin CANNOT walk away from this now, there is NO out.... and in all honesty, I don't even think Putin wants to walk away from this. There's speculation that Putin is terminally ill from the way he appears in recent video clips. He's already in the final years of his life so I don't think death scares him at this point.
And you're also right that the military industrial complex is basically tied with the banking elites, and the banking elites control US politics. One of the ways the banking elites maintains their control is through predatory loans to weak nations that gets wrecked in conflict....
..The IMF grants loans to these wrecked nations, these wrecked nations contract with American companies to rebuild infrastructure, and then these wrecked nations default on those loans and globhomo takes over their country.....
It's a shame most plebs are too low IQ to see how this racket works....

Russia is one country. Ukraine is being supported by 30+. Russia couldn't arm anybody, including themselves, to the same degree Ukraine is being armed.

Meanwhile the West is pouring money into the country and will keep doing that even after this terrible fukfest ends. I guess getting rebuilt and propped up Germany-style is a bad thing now.

Note that the British published these details in a British newspaper because instead of being "BTFO", they found it funny. When you're secure and well adjusted, your enemy making ridiculous jibes about food and ancient monarchs makes you laugh. Compare and contrast to the widespread censorship of the perpetually offended Russians.

Wali still alive as well. Decent short article.

There was a huge explosion and my whole body was like ughhhhhh,” Wali said, diving to the side in a reenactment. “And my ears…” he said, making a ringing sound and adding that he saw shrapnel raining down in front of him.
He then looked to his left and saw one of the Ukrainian soldiers “but his legs were gone,” Wali said, mentioning the smell of death. “He was not moving. He was gone,” he added.
“The other [soldier] was two, three meters away,” still alive but with no legs. “He was still breathing, but he was shaken, you could tell he was already in some other world,” Wali said.

Wagner group getting fukking REKT
Yesterday, the Bars-7 assault squad, a member of a private military company Wagner attacked
Ukrainian positions in Luhansk region. A large group of mercenaries broke into the first trench
of our supporter. However, the Ukrainian soldiers did not tremble, accepted a close fight, and
completely defeated the opponent.
Russian troops suffered heavy losses, many were killed, and 7 mercenaries of the Bars-7 squad
were captured by the soldiers of one of our mechanized teams. The mercenaries reported that
they were hired through Russian military forces for a salary of 205 thousand rubles.
Captured officer - Major Viktor Korzhavin from Chelyabinsk region, Radist Sergei Bogdanov from
Krasnodar Krai, city of Timoshevsk, soldiers Vladimir Nasyrov from Ufa, Sudnev Valery from Izhevsk,
junior sergeant Yushkov Dmitry, resident of Lugansk Kovalenko Dmitry, and also another Russian
citizen from Tomsk.
All of them, captured with a fight with weapons in their hands, told that the Bars-7 squad came to the
front on April 20. In 10 days of fighting, they said, about 150 killed and wounded out of 400 people.
Adults, who, according to them, came to restore the Donbass, guard the rear, drive cars and talk on
the radio, treat the wounded. Well, not a single militant among them, but for some reason they took
rifles and went to occupy the "empty height". These are some strange creatures. And there were a lot
of refusers in Bars-7 according to the Russians, but they themselves did not go to the refusers. They
lie, it's obvious, they came to kill, and were ready to get paid for it, but only to meet military
professionals on the site of the attack, who quickly made the right decisions.
In general, the lack of human resources in Russia is obvious. In fact, Russia has begun a partial
mobilization.

That said, there's probably a reason you get a plethora of Chinese, Italian and French restaurants in any city in any country in the Western world. Russian, not so much. Searching Tripadviser for Russian restaurants in Sydney I found only 4, none had a website and one was in fact a Polish club. To put this in context, the same search for Korean restarants gets > 200 hits.
EDIT
Also my boss is a foodie and said it was crap when he went to Russia.

RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE CAMPAIGN ASSESSMENT, MAY 1
https://www.understandingwar.org/bac...sessment-may-1
Russian forces are setting conditions to establish permanent control over the areas of southern Ukraine they currently occupy, either as nominally independent “People’s Republics” or by annexing them to Russia. Russian sources reported that stores in occupied Melitopol and Volnovakha are beginning to transition to using the Russian ruble.[1] British Defense Intelligence reported that the ruble will be used in Kherson City starting on May 1 as part of a 4-month currency transition scheme enacted by the occupation administration.[2] These measures, which are not necessary or normal in military occupation administrations, indicate that Russian President Vladimir Putin likely intends to retain control over these areas and that his ambitions are not confined to Donbas.
Western and Ukrainian sources claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin may announce a “general mobilization” of the Russian military on May 9th. British Defense Minister Ben Wallace claimed that Putin may make this announcement, although Wallace admitted this was a personal opinion and not based on intelligence.[3] Advisor to the Ukrainian President Mikhail Podolyak amplified Wallace’s claims and stated that a general mobilization on May 9 would be consistent with the economic imperatives faced by Russia as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.[4] ISW has no independent verification of these claims, which would not in any event generate large numbers of usable soldiers for many months.
The Kremlin likely seeks to leverage its partners in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to evade Western sanctions. The Ukrainian Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that Russia is courting CSTO members to procure input goods and materials for dual-use technologies that Russia cannot directly purchase due to Western sanctions.[5] The GUR stated that this effort will increase CSTO members’ economic dependence on Russia and enable Russian sanction evasion by using third-party countries to re-export Russian products to international markets.[6] The GUR stated that the Russian Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant is attempting to obtain German components needed for the production of Buk surface-to-air missile systems and Tunguska missiles via Kazakhstan. Western sanctions may need to target Russia’s partners in the CSTO and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) customs union to prevent Russian sanctions evasion.
Key Takeaways
- Russian occupying forces are setting conditions to allow Russia to permanently govern occupied areas in southern Ukraine, not just in Donbas.
- Ukrainian forces likely conducted a rocket artillery strike on a Russian command post in Izyum on April 30 that struck after Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov had left but killed other senior Russian officers.
- Russian forces continue to make incremental advances moving southwestward in the direction of Lyman but are largely stalled against Ukrainian positions on the pre-February 24 frontline.
- Russian forces continued re-grouping and reconnaissance on the Southern Axis and did not make any confirmed advances.

In 2005, German newspaper, Handelsblatt, asked Sergei Lavrov what he thinks about NATO membership for Ukraine. He replied: "It is their choice. We respect the right of every state including our neighbors to choose its own partners".

The Ukrainians managed to down another KA-52 with the Stugna-P anti tank system.
Lol @ the russians getting their most precious attack helicopter destroyed by anti-tank weapons. Before the war they were boasting that none of these ever were downed in combat before.
