In my opinion, employment in the wrong field, looks better than a gap in employment.

If the gap gets bigger than 6 months, people start to think it’s a medical / mental health thing and you start drastically cutting down companies that will take you.

Also, applying for jobs doesn’t take 8 hours a day. You’ll have all the notifications set and CV templates. Most 1st interviews are over zoom / teams for web dev roles. I doubt you’d be compromising your prospects much by taking a temporary position.

You could work part time
You could take a chitty temp job as an assistant/admin/data entry and use your skills to work up rapidly
You could do some freelance, though most of that is front end chit cause no one wants to do that

This. OP cries and wants advice, then just gets plastered and starts spewing dumb chit.

OP you probably need to get your alcoholism under control before you seek new employment. Stop being a bitch and go to a rehab or get professional help

Don't worry brah, you'll be okay. I'll tell you about my best mate. He was your age, a drug addiction. Looser as you would put it. $12 per hour as a orderly. They fired everyone and got rid of that position. He was redeploy as a tech in the operating theatre. Worked well, got offered a job on a transplant team. Met his now wife there. All within 3 years. He's now 40, has a 1million house, a 5 yo daughter, a wife, kicked the habits. On $150k p.a. it's never over until you give up.

You shouldn't be worrying bromeo. You have skills from what you said. I would have started worrying if you were like some people who worked some ****ty ass job all their life and acquired no desirable skill in their 30s.

At first I felt for OP, tough financial situation, it sucks.. i'm there right now but trying.

Then I saw his excuses:
- can't do Doordash. BS, if you have a gallon of gas in your car, and get 25mpg...you can do 1 fkng delivery, cash out instant, and put gas in the car. repeat.
I do this often as my backup plan to make a few bucks, realize life could be worse, and try harder.

- won't work a part time job bc "values time". is worth $35/hr but makes $0/hr. you have no other responsibilities right now, you don't pay rent, go work part time and spend the rest of the time looking for the job you want.

- if that $20 paypal "loan" post is legit... and the rest of this chit ITT then yes, OP is a loser

I wish you better times OP, but you gotta stand up for yourself and go make it happen. If you don't back yourself, like said above, who's going to? Nobody is coming to save you, me, or anyone else.

Jope your dad gets better. Sorry to hear he is not well.

As for your situation, things could be worse. You could be that broke with a wife and kids to care for.

Of course the best way to make money as you probably know is to get a job. High paying jobs are hard to get but that doesnt mean you cant get another one while you are working on that.

My suggestion as a fellow san diegan is a call center. They are always hiring, many work remote now and dont require any real experience other than maybe a good personality and customer service. They are actually pretty cush jobs too, way under rated as far as simple to get and ok pay.

You could basically have one by weeks end if you looked around a bit. They are always in need of people esepcially men. men are more reliable and show up to work, They know this as women flake all the time and create unneeded drama.

Try not to let yourself get to the homeless level as once you get there its a much harder road out of it.

One step at a time. Get the work first then you can get the other stuff taken care of. Keep in mind to the fair is coming in june and they are already hiring. Just temp gig work stuff but easy to get hired and lots of hours.

Look at placement agencies. They offered me so many positions I eventually just had to tell them I dont need any more. I dont have any real skill or magic either. Just a hard working regular guy.

Best of luck.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

I'm 26. Last year for the first time in my life I was debt free, student loan and car paid off, made over $110k gross, saved back over $30k, and through a combination of lucky investing and options gambling like a mad man I got as high as $60k I believe with that account, all in the same year. Fast forward to now that account is actually $0. Ded fkn srs.

Now it's April 2022 and I've got back my emergency fund of 6 months, got a juicy 401k, still debt free with the same paid off car, but no extra investments/savings beyond that. Partially because I've bought a lot of chit lately, including study materials and an expensive exam voucher for a cyber security certification, which I studied for 3 months and passed on the first try thank phark.

I'm glad I'm 26. But it hurts and I've been depressed for 4 months due to a combination of the above, having also broke up with my gf of 3 years LTR last year, having zero social life, and I was not proud of my physique. I haven't laughed in months, not even a smirk when genuinely funny thing is presented to me. That's depression.

I've recently lost 15 pounds, and have gained a lot of confidence. I'm laughing again as of this week. I'm going out more, and wanting to be seen more. I want to build a social life and strike conversations with randoms and care about people. I actually went as far as to knock on the door of some hot neighbors, two girls that are roommates, who have been there for a year and I never knew their name, and they host parties and chit in their apartment from time to time. Super friendly, shook hands, told eachother our names, made some jokes, and I'm pretty sure I came off as endearing and sociable. I might get invited to future parties they have or hang out if I'm lucky.
Thats it boyo
