Misc watch snobs explain

Explain why tag heuer gets so much hate?

Are they crappy watches? Dont hold value? Poor aesthetics?

What is it?

it's very simple. they destroyed their brand long ago by making and selling cheap quartz watches en masse in mall stores.

When I was in elementary school you could buy tag heuers for 100 bucks at the mall ^

Now that I can afford nice watches Iโ€™m not entertaining that same brand at its current price point.

O i did not know this.

Ive been delving a bit more into watches recently. Always assumed tagteuer was at least somewhat decent of a low end luxury watch, but apparently every watch enthusiast hates them.

Heuer, was a legendary, very well respected watch company. Then they were purchased by TAG, and became TAG Heuer, and started pumping out schitty, overpriced watches. They've turned it around a bit recently, but the damage is done.

Heuer was great. It turned crappy when tag bought them.

Itโ€™s like an overpriced Tissot now

I'm not a watch guy but I've been eyeing "Mission to the Moon." I'll pick it up when it becomes more widely available (not sure when that'll be though).

Since there are some watch brahs ITT what are your thoughts on this watch?

I would buy a Tissot before a tag any day. Tags just have that shopping mall, mass produced feel. Idk

Hmm interesting. Have they turned it around recently to the point where you would recommend their watches, or no?

What im trying to understand is whether or not the โ€œhateโ€ the brand gets is due to its past fuk ups or due to current low quality watches (for the price point).

To me, for the price they look pretty nice tbh, i dont know much about movements and shiet but the materials also look to be pretty decent quality.

They seem to be owned from the french lvmh company now though, they certainly know how to do marketing and luxury.

former watchcel...sold em all.

don't even start with that pointless shyt. its stupid expensive vain meaningless bishes dont care...there are so many other things.

i mean if a watch really speaks to you and money doesn't matter go ahead and buy it cuz you only live once but best to not even start.

if you start, once you wake up from that nonsense....you'll think WTF?

edit: that said not saying to buy a cheap garbage watch either. just don't go full watchtard.

Buy a Patek, Rolex, AP, or RM. Or nothing at all.

I'm done with watches. I don't like having a delicate $10,000+ piece of jewelry on my wrist when I'm out and about drinking and banging around the bar and talking to women of ill repute. One less thing to worry about. I'd rather have my money working for me in stocks or bonds. No need to show off when you're wealthy. I do admire them from afar tho. Just like I admire a Ferrari. But I don't want to own one anymore.
