A miracle just happened in Florida (passenger lands a plane)

Is not everyday that we can see something like that, with such a good ending. Glad the passenger remained calm.

To the ones not understanding why it was a "miracle" (well... it really wasn't , but you get the point), this is the reason:

1. Great Metereological Conditions (great visibility, no wind,...easy to control the aircraft; no necessity to use the instruments);
2. Long runway (to the point he was able to land without flaps);
3. ATC was also a pilot and a flight instructor with experience in the exact same model (so he provided assistance/guidance).
4. And obviously, he remained calm and followed the instructions... which requires you to be "special" under those circunstances.

I heard about that on my radio show this morning. So great he was able to land the plane safely!

Lots of things have to go right in that situation... but honestly this is one of my worst nightmares. Something like this happens and I have zero knowledge about flying and how to coach someone down. Luckily at every center there are bare minimum a handful of people with ratings on a variety of aircraft that can help someone down like that.

Having someone who is in a tower with that specific aircraft type is pretty luck tho. Cessna airplanes are the most common for casual pilots so if you're gonna need someone to talk you down who has experience fly a C172 or C182

Or a 150/152. In fact, I believe the majority of pilots (at least 90%) flew a 150/152 during the training. But yes, 172s and 182s are also common (specially 172s).

But yes, this gotta be an extremely stressfull situation for the ATC.

Please, never fly an aircraft.

You have no idea. Thats not how you land a plane. Probably it works in GTA tho.

and btw, cessnas have no "sticks".

Friendly reminder that Hani Hanjur with several lessons and the "Saudi's" (CIA/FBI) financially backing him was deemed unfit to solo fly a cessna. Months later he then got control of AA flight 77 and pointed it right at the Pentagon. However, instead of slamming it into the building in a straight line, he decided to first gain 10,000 ft in elevation, accelerate to 400+ mph (exceeding the plans VMO at elevation) and make a banking maneuver so sharp and fast that pilots to this day struggle to recreate in a flight simulator. As the plane was descending, banking and traveling at 400+ mph he glided just several feet above the ground for several hundred yards until slamming into the single wall of the 5 on that building that was blast protected just a month earlier.

40 cameras were confiscated for having that event on film. We are allowed to see two of those cameras. Both show no evidence of a plane hitting the building. Just a line of smoke and an explosion.

Why were no Rolls Royce Engines found in the debris field when they survive virtually every plane crash?
How did a failed pilot successfully pull that maneuver off and why would he do that when he was pointed right at the building a minute earlier?
Why are we not allowed to hear the audio recording in the cock pit recorded on the black box that was indeed recovered and not damaged?
Why are there multiple eye witness's that called it a smaller plane and said FBI was on scene in less than a minute moving debris?
Why is there no footage of that plane hitting one of the most secure and filmed building in the country?
Why did the FBI/CIA do nothing when their own staffer reported this as well as the flight school and several other countries?

Besides the fact that the most plausible explanation is that the industrial war complex/deep state allowed and possibly planned 9/11 to justify an invasion of their liking in the Middle East coupled with a never ending budget and justification to spy on citizens to their liking....careful all you brahs going to Bahama's...a lot of crazy stuff going down this week.

Yup, you absorb all of their flight hours. But only the legitimate ones, not the padded documented ones. The book can show the excess, but your skill level will only be what their actual hours were.

"The hijackers on American Airlines Flight 77 were led by Hani Hanjour, who piloted the aircraft into the Pentagon.[1] Hanjour first arrived in the United States in 1990.[2]

Hanjour trained at the CRM Airline Training Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, earning his FAA commercial pilot's certificate in April 1999."

Dozens of named witnesses saw the plane crash and described it

the NTSB said the voice recorder was tape and therefore destroyed

90% of people would freak out.

95% of people would not be able to land if the conditions were not perfect.

5% of people wouldn't freakout and would be able to land the place WITH GUIDANCE/INSTRUCTION (like you said).

It is not as intuitive as it looks. Even knowing when to flare is hard if you have no experience (the guy in the video, didn't flare... lucky the nose wheel didn't break).

^^the percentages are not data based... just my experience.

Those guys never flew a plane before. They probably think it is like driving a car with a lot of buttons or something like that. They flew planes in GTA when they were kids and they think it is the same.

And they completely forget the "human factor".

Another thing people can't understand is that: Simpler/Smaller plane doesn't mean easier to fly. There is absolutely no relation between the size and how difficult it is. If you are just flying there is no big difference in terms of how difficult it is between flying a cessna 152 (much smaller than the one he landed) and a fighter jet.

"ppppppppffff! Any retard could be in Special Forces. I have fingers, I can shoot, I am in great physical condition, I play CS:GO... easy!"

This "any retard could do it" thing is great to detect the retards.

They can. (Not everywhere tho. The airport gotta be equiped with the necessary infrastructure) - It is called CAT III procedure

You still have to be monitoring all the time because sometimes it goes wrong... but once the pilot configure it to land, the autopilot does it.

However, we "never" use it (literally less than 1% of the landings).

Still safer and more confortable if it is landed by a human. We use if if we have no visibility.

When I was a young kid, less than 10 years old, across the street lived a SW airlines pilot. He would take my father and I up in his small private plane for fun. And while flying he would let me take control of the plane. He let me do what i wanted basically. The plane was easy enough to fly. He wanted me to land the plane but I was to scared to do that. Figured though if something like that happened to me, and I had to fly the plane, it would be easy to do.

And while flying he would let me take control of the plane. He let me do what i wanted basically. The plane was easy enough to fly. He wanted me to land the plane but I was to scared to do that. Figured though if something like that happened to me, and I had to fly the plane, it would be easy to do.
It is easy to fly once it is leveled. Specially if you only consider keep the plane leveled. There is MUCH more about flying an aicraft. Did you trim? Did you make the procedures? Did you make the checklists? Did you use the carburator heat? Did you communicate with ATC? Exactly.

The difficult parts are the Landing, the Take-Off and ... if something goes wrong. And ofc, knowing what is happening with all the systems and acting accordingly.

Example: I'm not a surgeon, but probably the hardest part about a surgery is not doing the cut... is knowing what can happen, how to solve it... why and where you should cut etc etc. So... the hard part is the knowledge behind it. Not the cut.

As a pilot, I doubt he would let you land. He would probably convince you, you were landing while he did all the job. Just to be friendly... like: "Kid... wanna grab the steering wheel!?" while driving a car.

Would you let a kid drive a car in traffic? I wouldn't (even if it has automatic gear)... now imagine landing a plane lool.

It wouldn't be easy and you would probably not make it (chances are agaisnt you). Remember... complacency kills. Specially when you are flying an aircraft.
