Elden Ring has now shipped 13.4 million units

Amazed a Souls game is getting sales like this. Hopefully these numbers push all devs out of the comfort zones of game development.
While the shipped number refers to units that have been sent to retail, Bandai Namco claimed last month that the game had sold 12 million units by March 14.

The From Software game, which was released in February to hugely favourable reviews, was a huge sales hit for Bandai Namco, comfortably outselling physically the previous biggest ‘Souls’ boxed launch, 2016’s Dark Souls 3, by 26% in the UK.

“It’s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring,” Miyazaki said at the time. “I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team.

“Elden Ring is based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom when adventuring through its vast world, exploring its many secrets and facing up to its many threats. Thank you for your continued support.”

Bandai Namco president and CEO Yasuo Miyakawa added: “Much effort was placed into creating Elden Ring so that we could exceed the expectations of our fans worldwide.

“In like manner, we will continue our efforts in expanding the brand beyond the game itself, and into everyone’s daily life.”

Elden Ring was also Europe’s biggest new games IP launch since 2016’s The Division, according to GSD sales data published on GamesIndustry.biz.

And it’s Steam‘s sixth biggest game ever in terms of concurrent players, with a peak of over 950,000 – more than seven times that of Dark Souls III.

One of the best games I've ever played.

The world they created is amazing, 10/10. The attention to detail of every square inch of that behemoth world is thought out and unique.

Almost every hour there's a visual where I just sit there and think how the hell did they have the time to create this.

One of the best games i've ever played. Been waiting for a game like this since playing Bloodborne, per recommendation by the PS crew a few years back. BTW OP, you played Elden Ring?

The learning curve is insane for that game more than elden ring keep trying it will eventually click and you’ll feel like a god. Once it clicked for me at like 15 hours I could destroy even the hardest bosses. Also there’s some really good boss strategy videos on YouTube

It's benefitted from a lot of overhype, I mean they were hyping this mofo for years almost cyberpunk levels then it came out and its a good souls bourne game that managed to rope in the casuals.

All the "goat" talk is laughable, it's nowhere near.

the level design is without a doubt the best i've ever seen, i can't think of anything that comes near it

that alone puts it in the goat discussion at least

and cyberpunk had way more hype around it, namely because people thought they were getting a futuristic gta

they both have similar sales, cyberpunk's sales were solely through hype and marketing (most of it's sales were before the game released) whilst elden ring sales are due to positive reviews and word of mouth

I don't know who tf you been listening to.

Only issue I have had is if I alt tab out too long, sometimes I can't get back into it and have to restart. But that is a user issue, not a game issue.

Just saw on reddit that the PC version has had problems. I guess it's a non issue now? Might pick it up, the last souls game I played was DS3.

The thing that I hate the most about souls games is the bonfire/lamp placement. I can't for the life of me understand why they don't just put one before every boss. If you watch any playthrough you will see that after a player goes through the whole level carefully exploring and sht once they get to the boss and die they just phuking run back. Why the phuk they have to waste your time by making you run back through all the bs I will never understand.

This one reason is literally the only thing keeping me from playing another souls game. It's just so phuking stupid man. The only reason I ended up getting the platinum in bloodborne was cuz the chalice dungeon boss doors were close to the damn lamp, so fighting through the chalice dungeons was actually fun and didn't feel like a chore.

.
Nearly every videogame in existence that has has a 'level' and then a 'boss' often makes you repeat the level to get back to the boss.

It's a great game, so definitely stick with it until the combat clicks. You can't approach fights like dark souls/elden ring at all. Dodging is almost useless, and it's the block and parry system that you'll need to master to git gud. Sorry if you already know all this.

Well deserved for GOATen Ring, mf is easily worth $100 compared to the chit you get from $70 in other generic games.

Possibly the best game of all time. It's like what Skyrim wishes it could be in terms of open world and rewarding exploration but using the the amazing Dark Souls formula. The last game I sunk this much time into was Divinity OS 1/2 and Outward. What a time to be alive.

Skyrim is 11 years old and people are still talking about it.

People won't be talking about elden ring in 11 months

It's the video games equivilant of squid game. Remember that, yeah I do, barely.

The game was hyped, but still blew my expectations away. I knew it would be good but it ended up being way better than I imagined basically the complete opposite of cyberpunk
