Visiting Chicago this weekend, any tips on not getting shot? (100% srs)

Didn't think it would come to this being a big deal, but it sounds like Downtown Chicago is having serious issues with flash mobs and riots and people getting shot?? I have Thursday and Friday off work - is there anything fun I can do exploring the city without worrying about getting shot? (100% srs)

I get updates from my GFs family. Doesn't sound like any part of the city is safe anymore. Stay safe brah. Head on a swivel, stay in after dark. It's not uncommon to have 50+ shootings in a weekend.

And it's right next to Milennium Park. There's a ton of chit to do there.

Chicago is a top 3 city in the US, and if you visit during Summer there isn't any better experience you can find in the US. Tons of chit to do all day.

Vast majority of crimes are concentrated on the south side so you should be fine.

Do the architectural river boat tour, see the bean, visit the Shedd aquarium(has 3 kinds of dolphins), grab a drink on top of John Hancock(signature room), top of sears tower, have a chicago dog(what i miss the most) and deep dish, and don't leave any belongings and bags visible inside your vehicle.
