Idk, I had to start an mech engineering degree at 29 after working as a mechanical tradie (due to physical problems) and didnt have my degree until 35. My great uncle let me chill at his place for free while I got it as long as I helped him out around the house.

you have the money to rent and save, but you choose not to brah. where you live up north it is cheap as to buy a place with a small deposit. all you need is your parents to be a guarantor on the mortgage
having your own place if you are good looking is easy to get poocy also. just tell them to come over. you can have a rotation of 5 sloots a week coming to fk

I don't use hookers THAT often, 1-2 times a month at most however I'm giving it a break now since I'm going to a festival and on holiday next month.
Even if I was to rent a 1 bedroom flat privately it would take up almost half my wages when you include bills, electric, gas etc.

i'd advise you to move out. he's kinda fukked up mentally but i dont have the heart to tell him, and it solely because he has been immensely sheltered (from living at home/having every need catered for).
he did briefly live away due to studying, and i knew him during that time, and my god he was fukked cos he has 0 life skills srs.
move out

Family over money, yo. Can always make money but can't always be around family/parents, especially if they're older.

Where I live most guys typically move out of their parents home by 18-23. By 26-28 they've already bought their own home if they are in a LTR/marriage. If single they might apartment max for awhile unless they are just doing extremely well money wise.

That would be like me saying "wow, I cant believe most Americans abandon their parents in their old age and leave them in nursing homes, WTF"
A lot of it is cultural. The devil is in the details. My wife lived with her parents until we married and she was in her early 30's. Money was not the issue, she was well over six figures.......it was more about cultural tradition.
As my mom got older, I bought her a house .5 mile from me so she can be near my kids. As she gets even older and unable to support herself, she will live with us.....not in some nursing home. Meanwhile one of my colleagues (who does very well) sold his old truck to his father. My father would pimp slap me if I tried to sell him something. Different cultures have different ways of being with their family.

As far as what to do with parents when they get older. I've ultimately decided that the best course to take is buy a small home close by (like what you did). Or build a small cottage on your property.
I've ultimately decided I really don't like a bunch of people living with me/staying over. I'm only 35 but from here on out any home I buy/build I want to have a guest house/mother-in-law cottage on the property. Something like a 1 bed 1 bath place with a small fridge/mini kitchen.

Pretty high IQ move with our current economic atmosphere. Consolidation of family wealth should be a priority instead of everyone jumping into fiat slavery.

I didn't really move out until I was 25. From 18-23 was in college then worked for like a year saving money to move out. Ended up joining the military which got me the same result lol.
Almost out and hoping to get my own place when I go back home. Good paying jobs are hard to find back home in TN though. Literally going to have a bachelor's in accounting, 4/4 on CPA exams, security clearance + 5 years military & management experience and I'll probably have a hard time finding a 60k/year job which still can't afford a house.

they see it as leeching.
it is 10x more financially sensible, but as others have said, you lose out on so many experiences. its an express tickets to rottsville if isn't short term.

No fookin way. When I graduated college moved out. Lived with them for ~3 weeks a couple years later because I had a lapse between when lease expired and when I could close on a place and it was a nightmare.
Now we're at the point in our lives where my mother in law is getting older & we are starting to talk about her moving into our place.

I remember living at home for 2 weeks when I was 20 before I left the state (lease was up). It was so weird coming back. Can't imagine living there again, let alone deep into my 20s, but I guess if that works for people. Just have a plan to move out ffs.
And if it's because you're saving for a home, good luck with that because you're likely not keeping up with appreciation and you're missing out on a great investment.

im already starting to think about when my parents are going to have to move in with me. My mom and dad are both in the early stages of declining as they age through their mid 60s. Neither are accumulating any more wealth its slowly going down and down and they arent doing well with the inflation.
You just got to do what you can but try and be considerate too that your parents are going to need help someday too and you need to be prepared to be able to help them like they did for you.
maturing and getting older in life by actually participating is a real mind**** sometimes.

I'd say the fact that she's 19 and still mooching off of your father without spending any of her own money except on whatever "fun money" bs she decides to waste it on is enough.Idk ask my sister. She's 19, works, but my dad pays for everything. She doesn't spend a cent, but on her boyfriend and her. She can't drive either...so like an idiot, I drive her. Doesn't give me gas money either, or a thank you.
At a minimum, I'd say you should at least start making her give you gas money for the car rides. Lmao at giving an entitled sibling endless free car rides, especially with gas prices being so ridiculous now. Factor in wear and tear/miles on your car when figuring out what you think she'd owing you, too. Just tell her it's simply not in your budget to continue giving her free car rides any longer. If she doesn't like it, she can kick rocks and figure it out on her own/ask her bf for money and rides or something.
I know it's easier said than done to stand up to a family member like that, especially one you wish to maintain a good relationship with and keep happy with you. The thing is, if she can't accept it if you make very reasonable requests of her to pitch in in the midst of all these favors she apparently asks of you, then trust me, it's not worth dealing with at all. She sounds like a relative who would be gone like a fart in the wind if you quit letting her leech off you.

You get one “I ****ed up” card where it’s excusable.
Can be from a divorce, or job loss, bad investments, whatever. You get knocked down and they help you get on your feet
But if you’re perpetually there or are just regularly living with your parents past 30 you’re a grade A fail to launch fooking loser

That's one thing I notice gets overlooked a lot whemever these threads are made. I wouldn't call someone a loser or think less of them for living with their parent(s) at an older age (say 25+), if they are the ones sharing their own house with the parent(s).
That being said, it's still pretty brutal on dating life. You won't automatically lose every potential shot at decent relationship material women over having a parent live with you at your place, but it makes it much more difficult. Good luck getting things going when a chick you bring home realizes she can never scream like a banshee during sex with you in your own home, or that she could accidentally bump into the wrong person when she are on their way to the bathroom to rinse the remninents of the load you blew in her mouth.

i moved out recently (28 now) after buying a place with the fiancee. it's not bad at all if you have chill parents. i saved and invested a ridiculous amount of money (enough to buy my own place mortgage free). had no expenses other than going out/social stuff. moved up rapidly career wise because i didn't have other **** to worry about
if you are a bum with no job, no education etc. then it's a different story, but in that case you're a loser anyway not just because you live with your parents. and things are just different in different cultures, americans like throwing their kids out the second they no longer legally have to look after them. other cultures the parents will refuse to let their kids leave until they are financially very stable, getting married etc.

It's not fair but that's just the way it is.
She started the job at 19 when she had almost zero responsibilities (it's a VERY well paying job for someone who is younger than at least mid-20's), when she still lived with her father. Moved in with some bf she had when she was like 20, so any bills she did have upon moving out were cut in half immediately. She lived with the bf dude for a couple years before slooting on him, then moved back to her father's place at age 23.
She talks about how her father never charges her any rent or makes her pay for anything like food/utilities/etc. at the house. She's been getting a free ride for half a year again now, and is taking her sweet asss time moving back out. Probably won't move out until she finds some other bf to cuck and let her move in with them.
The entire thing is completely absurd to me. Bitch could easily be giving her father like $1,500 a month for everything he does/has done for her when she's been a grown adult who should be taking care of herself, and she's still be able to bank a ton of extra cash. No coindicence she's a total little slootbag entitled bitch when she continues to have EVERYTHING handed to her on a damn silver platter as she approaches her fkn mid-20's.

No coindicence she's a total little slootbag entitled bitch when she continues to have EVERYTHING handed to her on a damn silver platter as she approaches her fkn mid-20's.

and parents who are financially stable but charge their own offspring rent to live in the family home (especially in their early 20s) are terrible parents and should have never have had kids. ****ing yankoids and their degenerate culture i swear
