found a chick on IG (by chance) who had a job interview with me

edited to write cliffs instead:

-group interview for job. me her and a few others
-good vibes, lot of eye contact, def felt she was into me
-didn't get the job due to to the fact I didn't have a qualification they wanted (they missed this in the screening, so they apologised for wasting my time)

-didnt say goodbye to her (or other others), just left cos i couldn't be bothered to explain why i didn't get the job and frankly didn't think they'd believe me anyway (i actually passed the interview, but the qualification requirement was essential).

-also didn't try and get her no. as she was sitting with a group and it was a formal setting, and didn't anticipate id be going home early so figured i could get it later on.

-randomly came across her on IG today, seems she did get the job
-sent message saying 'hey you look familiar, did you go to x interview' (wasn't 100% it was her)
-would it be weird to suggest meeting up for coffee?
-how direct should i play it
-will obviously need to explain why i jetted without saying goodbye

I'm certain she never has randos sending her PMs, she's probably all giddy inside reading your message. Honestly, has she even stopped thinking about you or that magical moment you two were together during that interview? I bet she hasn't stopped thinking about you every single day. Dreaming of being with you on the beach, running and laughing, sharing a mimosa at sunrise, making passionate love, then getting married and making the perfect life with you. There is no way she's remember you as the loser who got thrown out of the interview she won, remembering how she and the others chuckled under their breath as you walked out with your head hung low making no eye contact with anyone.

So yeah go for it bro.

That did make me lol.

But OP, what do you have to lose? The worst that can happen is she ignores you, or says no.

the specifics of why i didn't get it run deeper than i can be bothered to explain on an anonymous bodybuilding forum. I passed the interview. they told me. I just needed a certain additional qualification, which i could have obtained but i cba

meanwhile,
i got another job which pays double what i would have got paid there.

So let me get this straight ...

Both of you have phones (that have GPS) and Instagram (owned by FB, the most spy intrusive company ever) installed on those phones. You were both in close proximity for an interview, and you think Instagram JUST SO HAPPENED to recommend this person to you on total coincidence. You got played twice. Once by that company, then by Insta. Congrats.

I don't know why I'm picking on you so much in this thread but...

... So, your story is: You failed to even qualify for this job due to a lack of some kind of training, knowledge or experience. However, somehow you then found a new job whose qualifications you did meet hired you and it pays... double... what the old job who you were not good enough for did.

So, never mind that you got tossed out of the original interview quick when they realized you were not qualified. What, on the way out they shouted at you what the salary would have been? Were they just huge dicks? Why? Why rub salt in a guy's wound and just tell him what he is not going to get? Or, would you have us believe before they even figured out you couldn't do the job they were discussing salary with you? Really? In my experience that kind of happens nearer to the end of interviews. Like always.

To the next point... Double. You had to say double, didn't you. I'll toss out some numbers, but saying this job the girl has is paying $75K a year. You aren't good enough for that... but somehow, this other job paying $150K is fine with a lesser qualified guy doing it?

No offense, it sounds like you're a little biter, trying to pretend you're not and compensating for it. Why do I bring this up? To be a huge dick? No, not entirely -- because a big part of whether you should contact this girl absolutely hinges aroundhowyou left that interview.

I'm sticking to my guess, it was in shame. Not triumph as you are trying to present. And, if so, then No. Do not.

Edit: I see after I wrote this novel, you've contacted her and she gave you a "Hi" with many exclamation points. Well, you're committed now. Good luck. Do not mention the interview any more than you need to, do not make the focal point of any conversation that or the job, move on, if you're feeling bold, mention that you felt a spark with her and bring the convo to the two of you. Good luck, let us know how it plays out if you want, would be interesting.

Chill out dude and stop hating on me.

I'm not lying, stop insinuating I am. I know the salary cos I know people who work there. I am not 'under qualified', its a sideways qualification.

Believe me or not. I don't really care. Yes it's double. I applied for both, and this company got back to me first, being my 2nd choice. I went out knowing I didn't give a fuk cos the other company had since reached out anyway. Jeez

And just to top it off cos you got so worked up you can't actually read - I passed their interview. The item I was missing was a simple box tick for the middle management monkeys to meet regulatory requirements.

Edit: and on recollection, they mentioned the salary in the presentation at the beginning, as well. So yes it does happen outside of your world

You will let us know how it works out, won't you?

Btw, I can insinuate what I want. If someone tells me a story with holes in it, I don't have to just sit there and smile like a dog, I can say it's got holes in it. That's how the internet works, kid, might want to learn the rules before you get your feelings all hurt again.

Like more holes: You would now have us believe all along you did not even care about this job, because you had another interview yet to happen. Really? Why did you go then? Why did you waste your time? I mean, meeting the potential Love-of-Your-Life might be a nice silver lining to wasting hours, but in most people's case, they do not meet women to date at job interviews. So why? Why even go?

Also, why did you discount this job interview simply because you had another? Can you read the future now? You knew you would get the other job? Odd, I was under the impression people often did not get jobs when they go into interviews, such as you and this one.

How did you know you would get the job in the second interview you had not even had at that point? By your own admission they had only reached out to at that time.

The only reason to discount this job interview would be if you knew you had a job lined up. You didn't.

Holes, holes and more holes.

better question, why would i lie?

you sound angry as fuk. srs. what's wrong with you

actually laughable you think i would invent a story in a fukking subforum of a bodybuillding forum.

you evidently spend too much time around insecure pricks, maybe thats why you think everyone else is one. or maybe you are. projection is a hell of a drug

Why would I be angry in the least? Not at all, I've only read a weird story that didn't make a lot of sense and questioned the person giving it. I have no reason to be upset about anything, unlike you. I think you see anger because you're feeling upset or angry yourself here, you clearly do not like to be questioned. I note: You answered none the last round, yet replied to me anyway.

Why would you lie? Why would any liar who lies on the internet lie? That's honestly a weird question, as if suddenly the internet is full of honest people who never exaggerate or inflate their existence to impress others. Your question makes it as if that never happens, yet I think we all know otherwise.

Then you think the notion that you would invent a story on this unworthy subforum is "laughable". Two points there, I didn't accuse you of inventing anything. I just think your story, at face value, is questionable. That does not mean it's entirely fictitious or invented. It's an interesting comment for you to make though -- on one hand, you think this forum is so beneath you that it's not worth your time to come here to lie or exaggerate... yet somehow it *is* good enough for you to come here and ask advice? If this sub and forum matter so little, then why did you even initiate this thread in the first place?

Your stories and attitude simply do not make sense.

>> you evidently spend too much time around insecure pricks, maybe thats why you think everyone else is one. or maybe you are. projection is a hell of a drug

Odd, I never said you were an insecure prick and very telling you would use that particular phrase to assign to what I was thinking as I only asked reasonable questions of your quickly unraveling story.

Then you suggest that either I associate with insecure pricks or that I am an insecure prick and have projected that onto "everyone else", yet the only person I am interacting with here and potentially projecting anything on here is you. Hardly everyone. Were that theory of your to be valid, why haven't I projected this insecurity and prickness onto anyone else? I think you might want to rethink that.

Obviously the job interview you went to and ended up being told to leave over was not one that had anything to do with psychology. That much is clear.

you know what the sad thing is, ive seen you post a lot in the past years and you post some good stuff. really weird to see this coming from you. srs

if you think my story is untrue, then just move on man. i cba to argue about my life on the internet.

and no im not upset about this, because i got additional experience, and i got my 1st preference which pays more shortly after this happened.

i was happy to answer questions you had, but your writing style and general temperament seems sceptical and combative.

it isn't the best way to engage in conversation with someone from a place of genuine interest.
and just because this is 'the internet' doesn't mean you should act like an ass. I don't owe you anything, nor do you owe me. but I can still talk respectfully to you. and part of respect is giving someone a modicum of credibility, not insinuating they are a liar from the get go. the points i did answer, by giving you the benefit of the doubt, you shot back as if they were absurd. i dont need to spend all night justifying myself.

Don't look too much into it. Everyone was just acting nice in a job interview setting trying to blend in and get the job.

Curious how it's playing out, he actually contacted her and got an enthusiastic, "Hi!!" response.
