I've noticed that there's a good chunk of people on here who are politically neutral, or only left leaning. Which is fine, I only barely consider myself right leaning. However between what's been happening in the media and this school shooting, our divides and emotional reactions are becoming far more aggressive and commonplace. I don't "blame" people for wanting to ban guns, but I don't agree with it. It's an emotional reaction. If anything, people getting far more aggressive, miserable and acting out more should be evidence that we're experiencing a cultural decay, and I'm not surprised that shootings in general are more common.

Well that's just my point. Just look at this board. Nearly every news item bring a ridiculous divide. And it's basically exclusively namecalling, nagging and complaining. The discussion is always : "you libcucks" vs "you redneck retards". It's always far from the point and never constructive. Politicians thrive because of that dynamic, they fuel the fire and thus never have to provide real solutions. This thread kind of perpetuates that.

Every news item is an excuse to come out of the woodworks to tell everyone 'I told you so' and you just rustle jimjams, nothing else comes of it. The terms liberal and conservative are used as cursewords whilst you can be a perfectly rational and functional person and fall under either category. There is just not much advancement in sight when there is such a huge artificial divide. You'll get stuck real fast.

It's pretty obvious that, when it comes to gun control, things aren't exactly working out in Texas right now. And you should spend money on security measures in schools for the short term probably yes, but that is fighting the symptom and not the disease. Gun availability is something that should be reviewed. How can you prevent a guy like that from picking up that gun? Also : How can you prevent a guy from becoming desperate enough to want to kill innocent children? These are all important issues that should be tackled regardless of the 'camp' that you are in. You need to eliminate the problem as close to the source as possible imo.

If you remove yourself from the circus you realize it’s a retarded waste of energy to get sucked into. Why have the same arguments over and over? Nothing will change. Why suddenly develop anxiety about school shootings when it it terribly rare. There are countless things that are worth more concern than school shootings. People for some reason don’t give a sh!t about the terrible health trajectory of an entire generation, but have mental breakdowns because of one person shooting people. Sounds harsh but that’s reality. Don’t want to get shot? Don’t snot yourself and don’t be in a gang. If you do that, your chances of being impacted by gun violence are so low that you don’t even need to waste any bandwidth worrying about it.


Yet here we are watching all the puppets dance again.
