Better stats would be number of students/staff dead as a result of a mass school shooting. Compare numbers between the year 2000 and 22 Vs all other shootings before the 21st century.
Something says you won't like the results

easy to talk sh*t when you don't even know how those new secured schools would look. especially with one entry point

but your f a g g ot president instead prefers to send 40 billion to another country than help his own citizens

but then again the f a g g o t r y of the left support open borders and bringing in criminals so they should stfu when it comes to anything related to crime, right?

The effects are way bigger than the immediate deaths and injuries though. Young kids in the USA have to go through mass shooting drills at school and are traumatized and in fear. We're talking about millions of kids. Parents want to turn their kids' schools into maximum security prisons. It's a fukked up situation overall.

they are already being brainwashed by groomers, sexualized and taught to be trannies. you think them walking into what should be a secure safe environment to learn is the same as going to prison - are you smoking crack?

Lol at people like you who want to say the problem is kids at firing ranges.

It's almost all black and Hispanic gang shootings in America. There's a reason this wasn't a problem 50 years ago.

- 26 of these school shootings resulted in 0 or 1 death

- a mass shooting means 4 or more people were shot and/or killed; a mass shooting may have zero fatalities

- using this criteria there have been 13 mass school shootings since 1966
Using that criteria - 4 or more people shot and/or killed - there were 10 mass school shootings between 2000-2010 and 18 shootings since 2010, exluciding the most recent one in Uvalde. Also ~30 shootings with 3 people shot/killed. Something's fuky about the math altogether, but one thing's for sure, the shootings are getting more commonplace.

phuck off

the projectile from the AR platform is smaller than pistol rounds

the only reason you want to ban it is because it's effective weapon system.

Not liking an argument doesn't mean it's virtue signaling. It also doesn't have anything to do with racism or seat belts.

On top of that I didn't even say schools in the USA shouldn't do that. I just said it's a fukked up situation. I'm happy the elementary school I went to still doesn't even have fences around it and that it has wooden front doors.

These are some if the bigger ones, literally off the top of my head. IMO "since 1966" is kinda useless, it doesn't reveal any patterns or provide anything useful. Nothing between 66 and 89 is interesting as hell tho. Chit seemed to really open up after Columbine-which I think should be the focus of anybody wanting to get to the bottom of this.

What level of government control do you believe would be required to reduce mass violence incidents to a level you deem acceptable?

And are you okay with surrendering freedom to acquire the safety you *believe* that our corrupt [undeniable] government would actually provide for you?

I linked the data base above. Please feel free to figure that out and report back. Per the article:

- 13 mass school shootings
- 146 children and adults killed
- An additional 182 children and adults injured

The first one they record was Stockton, CA in 1989.

If you look at aircraft related fatalities from 1989 through 2019 there were 38,356 fatalities 13,360 severe injuries and 21,383 minor injuries.

https://www.psbr.law/aviation_accident_statistics.html

38,356 fatalities flying planes vs. 146 fatalities from mass school shootings

34,743 injuries flying planes vs. 182 injuries from mass school shootings

Yes, it is nuts to risk decreasing the mental health and well being of all school children in an attempt to protect some unknown small number of children from a crazy person who could find some other way to murder students.

- remote learning [kids falling behind/checked out]

- masks [children not as socially/mentally developed as they should be]

- barriers and physical distancing [teaching children to be afraid of human contact]

Putting police in schools and/or making school a place where children feel unsafe is problematic.

Of course no one wants their children to be murdered by some maniac. Do you want them to be arrested for spaghetti straps? Spit balls? Property damage?

Unaware what difference there may be between the wiki criteria and the data base criteria.

Here is another link to the original article:

https://theconversation.com/what-we-...hem-out-183812

And some things they report:
Our research and dozens of interviews with incarcerated perpetrators of mass shootings suggests thatfor most perpetrators, the mass shooting event is intended to be a final act.The majority of school mass shooters die in the attack. Of the 15 mass school shooters in our database, just seven were apprehended. The rest died on the scene, nearly all by suicide – the lone exception being the Robb Elementary shooter, who was shot dead by police.

And school shooters tend to preempt their attacks by leaving posts, messages or videos warning of their intent.

Inspired by past school shooters, some perpetrators are seeking fame and notoriety. However, most school shooters are motivated by a generalized anger.Their path to violence involves self-hate and despair turned outward at the world, and our research finds they often communicate their intent to do harm in advance as a final, desperate cry for help. The key to stopping these tragedies is for society to be alert to these warning signs and act on them immediately.
^^^
Sounds more like "suicide and I'm taking company with me" vs. wannabe famous or anything that might be deterred by more severe punishment.

How about a compromise.

conservatives will get their wish of leaving it up to the states to ban abortion (in which half of the country will do so) and in turn liberals can reinstate the ban (because they've been banned before) on guns classified as an AR.

fact of the matter is, prohibiting either of these hot button issues isn't going to stop people from getting them if they want to so its all a moot point.

Adding to the airplane death statistic, the first thing people usually say to someone who is scared of flying is "Dying in a plane crash is extremely rare/you are more likely to win the lottery", which means that mass (or school I guess) shootings have even worse odds bordering on impossible

Good stuff Katya. In one of the threads that popped up this week I made a post that fits well here. If the goal of restricting access to firearms is to prevent the loss of life, people that lead off using school shootings as their primary argument aren't rationale. They should be talking about suicides.

Also, I have no idea how much it would actually cost to beef up security at schools. I've seen posts made that the Ukraine money world have covered cops at every school (for how long though, a year?). People also say you can't put a price on a life so whatever it costs, it's with our it. However, let's say we spend 40 billion a year on school security and save 20 lives a year. Sounds OK unless you consider that we could have spent the money elsewhere and maybe saved 100 (or whatever). The point is, sometimes people say if it saves a life, it doesn't matter what it costs, but money is finite and it really does.

lol'd at "Good stuff Katya."

Did it ever cross your mind that there's a huge difference between someone wanting to die and someone who doesn't?

Suicides aren't not a remotely acceptable comparison to 19 school children being slaughtered. Same goes for gang violence.

FOH with all the whataboutism.

Never thought I'd see the day where I'm agreeing with P51 over most of my fellow conservative miscers.

What the fuk is the point of using data from a time period where this phenomenon was non-existant?

But gun nuts don’t care because CHICAGO!!!!
185 since 1999 is statistically nothing.

The truck driver in Nice France who used no guns at all caused almost half of those deaths from 1999-2022 in minutes.

It's about as rare as winning the lottery, despite the mass medias' attempts to make the public think it's a likely thing to happen to them and their loved ones.

The main reason most of the spree killings are happening is due to the mass media coverage of them giving the perp the notoriety they seek, that the perp knows will happen once they do it. They do it not because they want to kill kids but because they know the immense mass media coverage will be given to them. Get a handle on that mass media coverage and you'll get a handle on the problem. There are numerous other security measures that can help but that's the primary problem that must be dealt with. If we can't stop the MSM giving the major coverage to it then it will not stop. Period.

As I speak right now CNN continues with its nonstop coverage of the Uvalde shootings. Six days straight now of 24/7 coverage of the shooter and his deeds. They do it willingly knowing they are playing an active role in making it more likely to happen.

Now tell us how many crimes are prevented yearly with firearms. And then tell us why you want so badly to see crime skyrocket.

Crime won’t skyrocket if AR-15 style weapons are banned.
