Clay court specialist.
All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

Nadal is good on all surfaces but there's no denying he's better on clay, hence him being a clay court specialist.

Federer and Djokovic are undeniably more well-rounded players

Just my two cents but what ruins nearly every discussion about tennis these days is the pointless obsession with having to declare someone the "GOAT."

I don't know who the greatest is out of Federer and Djokovic and I don't care. Federer in his prime played an attacking style of tennis I enjoyed watching.

Nadal winning around 70% of his titles on clay excludes him from that conversation for me. I really don't care how many more French Opens he wins.

Don't worry brah, deep down Nadal knows this too.

That's why he'll do his best to get Novak banned from a few more tournaments to give himself the best chance at winning.
There is but one path....we kill them all.

Djokovic was underdone. Wasn't allowed to play the AO which gifted Nadal another slam. Wasn't allowed to play Indian Wells and Miami. While he rediscovered his form in Rome there was always going to be a question mark over his fitness.

Nadal went from moping to full of confidence with Alcaraz out. Only his fans buy into the "injured person who plays tennis" shtick. He was always going to be the favorite.

I just found it amusing that once again you only pop up once the win is in the bag.

Dominik, are you really forgetting that everyone and their mother had Djokovic as the favorite heading into this match?

Now the story is "Djokovic was underdone"?

Really bro?

Nadal once again took Djokovic to school on PC, and the legoman had no answer to this GOATING Nadal.

/end of discussion.

Come on mate, weren't you putting a fork in Novak only a couple of months ago? A few comfortable wins at his favorite best of 3 clay event was never going to make up for what happened to him in Australia.

Physically and mentally he was not ready for best of 5 on clay against Nadal. Djokovic isn't like Nadal who frequently goes into hibernation with career ending injury talk only to be back running like a jack rabbit on Chatrier. He needs big matches to build confidence and he was denied the chance to play for 4 months.

Nadal laid a trap just like 2020. There is nothing wrong with him and his game these days post Moya works regardless of the conditions. Djokovic wasn't ready. Even if he won that 4th set after going up 5-2 Nadal was never going to lose the 5th set. He's fitter than Djokovic which wasn't always the case.

I think it's fine to speculate, but you take it to the conspiracy theory realm man.

Nadal does have a genetic foot condition that causes him extreme pain and inability to compete at times, is that "a trap"?

Are you implying he lost Rome and "pretended to struggle" vs Felix to "lay a trap" specifically for Djokovic?

Come on man!

And I'm going to stand by my assessment of Djokovic being done dominating and possibly being done winning slams, age is catching up to him and he doesn't have a weapon like Fedal's FH to rely on, once he loses another half a step his grinding game which is A,B, and C of his game will crumble vs the up and coming guys.

So you think at 36, if he's as injured as you believe, with Xisca's biological clock ticking, that this guy is playing to win every clay tournament like it's 2005? All he cares about is the slam tally.

So no, I wouldn't be surprised at all if his team hatched a plan to lower expectations. And yes all that talk about slower night conditions, that it could be his last match at RG, the injury, etc. was all designed to lull the Serb, lacking big matches, into a false sense of security just like 2020. Moya said before the match he had an ace up his sleeve. Well played.

Dom, I think you're taking speculation and turning it into legit tabloid gossip.

Nadal continues to play tennis because it makes him happy, if you're familiar with Maslow's hierarchy of needs, self-actualization is at the very top. He has had the same attitude when he had 0 slams and now at 21 it hasn't changed him, the complete polar opposite of Djokovic who is obsessed with being the undisputed number 1 in history and thinks having the slam record is his ticket to being loved. That guy has some deep seeded psychological complexes.

So he's playing through pain but is still out there because it makes him happy?

Come on he's playing exclusively for slam titles just like Federer was until he ran out of time. It's all about his legacy. If Djokovic wasn't hanging around he'd be off fishing and starting a family.

There he is. Didn't need to check the score to know Nadal was up a set. A new post from Trudope confirms it.

Saw this pop up while checking the score every half hour.

"Nadal is battling his body and Zverev is battling his brain."

Can't beat the Nadal is either winning or injured narrative. A healthy Nadal is unbeatable no?

Wait a second someone retired. It must be the injured Nadal who's always battling no?

The level of gullibility in people who keep falling for this bullsh*t every year when he keeps on winning slams. Ask genuinely injured players like Del Potro (retired), Murray (2 titles since 2016), and Wawrinka (0 titles since 2017). They'd all give their left nut to be as injured as Bull.

Sucks Zverev had to go down like that. Hopefully he recovers soon as he was playing well. Expected him to fade after missing those chances in the 1st but he held it together.

Always a conciliatory tone once the win is in the bag. You were mocking him for losing the first set to a guy who's lost 3 matches in his career on that court. If he'd gone up 2 sets to zip your cornhole would have been clenched and you would have been as quiet as a church mouse here.

So how do you explain "an injured person who plays tennis" a match away from 22 slams? Should we believe without all these injuries he would have won another 10 slams? How intellectually compromised would you have to be to keep falling for this crap?

He's close to 100% which is why he's in the final and is about to go 2/2 in slams played this year.

It's the perfect routine. When he loses there's always a reason. When he wins battling through pain he's a warrior. I remember when Wawrinka won in Australia every headline was "Wawrinka beats an INJURED Nadal." He was back on tour a few weeks later winning on clay. Back injury was never mentioned again. Went on to win the French as usual.

How stupid do you feel now?

Closing the roof and promoting a match in such heavy humidity with obvious poor air circulation seems rather irresponsible from my point of view, and the RG tournament head honchos need to take a look at what happened today and improve something, not sure if air circulation or what, but the conditions were asking for someone to get hurt.

So sad for Zverev, no one likes to see these things happening. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.
