Was anything you learned in school useful?

I got good grades but can't remember a damn thing about history, geography, maths, physics, biology, french, spanish, etc. Do you guys? Do you use/need any of that stuff now (not counting if you went on to study and work in one of those fields).

Just seems like a giant waste of time. School was a blast though so there is that.

Come to think of it I can't remember a damn thing I learned in uni either and i went to law school.

Depends on the level

Early, early school is essential ... gotta know how to read and count, right?

But I would say high-school & beyond ... not really necessary for most professions. Nothing I learned in college was necessary for my profession. All of the job ads all want a college degree, but imo, 99% of them shouldn't have that requirement

Addition, Subtraction, multiplication, fractions, spelling etc.

School is lacking in a lot of areas, but I will say that it at least gives you a basic understanding on how to do the most basic tasks you'll need throughout your life.

Engineering school was very useful considering I work as an engineer.

The most useful part was the problem solving and unit conversions.

It will sound funny, but I took typing as an elective in high school. Turned out to be one of the most useful classes I took in high school.
I'm #12 in Y2J's "club"...and I'm scared.

Obviously as i learned math, reading, writing etc

As for work i learned almost everything i know in accounting from working with it, not from university.

I learned that no one actually knows what they're doing so if you put on a good show of confidence like you know what's up then it doesn't matter how sh*t your ideas or performance are, people will love you and think you're a valuable asset.

School gives you a rudimentary taste of a variety of different fields to give you some idea of what you might want to do with your life. It's far from perfect but im all ears for a better system

school is useless. if i was a gen alpha today, i would tell my parents to homeschool me, self teach, pass the bs exams & focus on a job straight away

Was never into school, math was always difficult for me. Now that I get older, would like to go back to the formulas and try them out.

Either way, school is for some and others it isn't.

It used to be a good system when they would fail people. Now they pass everyone. While you didn't necessarily learn anything in the old system it was at least a way to weed out the people with sh*t habits and sh*t work ethic. It doesn't even accomplish that any more.

Don't even get me started on all of the accommodations students can get.

brb doctor said I have trouble focusing so now you have to give me a copy of the notes because I can't pay attention and write at the same time...
brb extended time on my tests because I'm slow as f*ck
brb teacher writing down all assignments in a planner for me because I'm too stupid to check the online portal and keep up with my assignments myself

what a joke...

pretty much all my math and CS classes have been useful to some degree... i'm not doing differentials everyday or anything but i'd say everything is kind of assumed to be basic knowledge for a reason once you're really deep in the weeds on some problem

but i'd say equally as important was being involved in student organizations as it taught me soft skills that are VERY useful in the workplace like organization, planning, strategy, communication, outreach, etc
