Just rewatched World War Z

I always tell lazy ppl and fat ppl "yeah but in a zombie apocalypse you'd die and I'd be one of the few left"


watching i felt less confident but still think i'd have a decent chance

It doesn't matter how fit or chad you are, you're dead AF in a zombie apocalypse without prior planning.


I'm lucky enough to have a friend who owns a fishing yacht worth 250k which is big enough to sustain a family or two at sea for at least a few weeks. It's stocked with enough perishable supplies for a quick exit, plus of course we can fish on the open water.


From there, the plan is to head to either an oil rig or an island far enough away from shore but not really in the middle of the open ocean. Assuming it's a world ending zombie apocalypse, if not, we can ride it out on the boat for weeks/months until chit blows over.

If it really is the end of the world, we follow the plan laid out in Max Brook's Zombie Survival Guide.

You should read Max Brook's Zombie Survival Guide. He gives an explanation why wearing plate armour is a bad idea.

I would go with bicycle over car once out of super dense metro area. quiet. no break down of parts or need for refueling. Also when you think "i have everything i need in the car" and you have to leave it when chit hits the fan, youre basically left with nothing but whats in you hands.

sword is a good one. wouldnt do armor. never know. need that mobility. z-heads would def pile up on you. in WWZ they piled up to reach the top of apartment buildings

If you're just now getting into WWZ, 100% you should get the audiobook. It's seriously as entertaining as a good TV show. Listen to it on the commute to work, jogging, whatever, it's great.

I'll be hiding in my hobbit hole, Dandy. If not, I'll head to the coast and live off shelfish. I know where the kinas are, where the pipis & tuatua are, and I can hike out to the crays if I get sick of paddle crabs.

With the ultra-fast WWZ zombies who can fall hundreds of feet and just get straight back up, your BEST survival trick would be to stay as far away from them as possible. Even Daryl Dixon would have had his ass handed to him if one of those rivers of charging undead came racing toward him. In terms of armour, I would wear tough but light modern gear. The plate armour mentioned by the miscer above would weigh you down too much.

I am going to go ahead and order The Zombie Survival Guide off Amazon. I have heard too much good stuff about it.

Read WWZ sounds like it's time to jump back in and get the survival guide. Staying light and fast >> plate armor but for fuks sake get some forearm guards and something around your ankles and boom 50% of problems solved

The few I've encountered have been heavy and not so easy to control. I would have a better chance with a good hatchet.

Why not join the zombies? Same mindless existence but at least you unplug and go outside. They keep walking non stop which is good cardio and also beats sitting in an office all day. I imagine zombie sloots are easy as fuark too and down for whatever.

Well said. The story goes that Pitt bought the rights and wanted to make a very specific film. Then the studio told him what they wanted as they were paying for it all. This included huge reshoots which is why it cost a ridiculous amount and also why it seems disjointed at points.

It's a cracking book.

If they were fast zombies it would be extremely hard to survive.

Since zombies are basically extremely retarded people you might be able to fight and disable a large number of them if you got attacked and you were quick mentally and physically. It would be like the people in Lord of the Rings fighting orcs. They are so stupid that it would be like fighting retards.

However, they do not have any limits, don't feel pain, and they would be people you would have to kill or cut their legs to severely disable them.

The best bet with fast zombies would be to hide somewhere away from populations of people in some difficult to get to shelter.

Slow Zombies:

They seem easier to deal with if you are trying to get away from them and/or fight them.

However, you couldn't be in a large population area and hope to do well unless you had a massive amount of supplies in a building they couldn't get into. The danger here is that the zombies would just park themselves, maybe in massive numbers, outside of your building.

So, being away from populations of people would be great with a slow zombie situation as they would be unlikely to pursue you there.

Question:

I know this is fictional, but if zombies were real, wouldn't they just rot over time?

If they are humans infected with some kind of brain disease, like some insects get, that turn them into zombies, wouldn't they just starve to death eventually?

If they are truly dead and rotting then wouldn't the mass of zombies rot to the point where they couldn't move?

It seems like you would have wait a few weeks and most of the zombies would be too rotten to move, but of course, anything is possible with fiction.

Really like World War Z, especially because it's the only Zombie movie where the main character (Pitt) actually uses his brain right away, noticing how long it takes people to turn, going to the edge of that building incase the zombie blood that got in his mouth infected him, ect.

All the others are like " Oh No'z!! What's going on?!"


Back on topic - If it was fast Zombie like WWZ or 28 Days Later we'd be ****ed. I have lots of guns and ammo but that only goes so far. Would most likely try to get some place remote and away from civilization. Less people = less zombies.
