LOL @ Oregon...JEsus H...just LMFAO

Oregon overdose rates soared by 700% after decriminalizing ALL drugs last year: Officials admit millions in funding for treatment centers was held up and few offenders even bothered to use them but insist they will continue the scheme
-Oregon voters approved a ballot measure in 2020 to decriminalize hard drugs after being told it was a way to establish and fund addiction recovery centers
-The scheme - the first in the nation - went into effect in February 2021, and sees possession of controlled substances classed as a Class E 'violation'
-No longer a felony or misdemeanor, possession now carries a maximum $100 fine, which can be waived if the person calls a hotline for a health assessment
-Yet of the 1,885 people who received tickets for personal possession in the first year, only 91 called the hotline
-On Thursday, state officials provided an update on the scheme and said that they had underestimated the work to dispense grants to healthcare providers
-They said the $300 million scheme had 'potential', but admitted only $40 million in funds have been disbursed
-A Republican representative for the Eagle's Pass area said that in her district there has been a 700% increase in overdoses and a 120% increase in deaths
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...alization.html

"This means it's working".....fkn lmao

New possession limits
Under the new Oregon law that went into effect in February 2021, offenders caught with the following drug amounts can avoid criminal charges:

Less than 1 gram of heroin
Less than 1 gram, or less than 5 pills, of MDMA
Less than 2 grams of methamphetamine
Less than 40 units of LSD
Less than 12 grams of psilocybin
Less than 40 units of methadone
Less than 40 pills of oxycodone
Less than 2 grams of *******
Offenders caught with the following amounts of drugs will be charged with misdemeanor simple possession, rather than a felony:

1 to 3 grams of heroin
1 to 4 grams of MDMA
2 to 8 grams of methamphetamine
2 to 8 grams of *******

They're doing this in British Columbia now too. They must have seen how successful it was in Oregon.

I can't blame governments for this kind of stuff anymore. They are just trying to get votes and liberals will vote for them in exchange for legal drugs.

There comes a point you have to accept government is just giving liberals what they want.

You have to place the blame where it belongs: on your liberal neighbours.

Does someone need daddy government to tell them what to put in their bodies?

As an actual conservative, I support this. Less government meddling, more freedom, more bodily autonomy.

Based Oregon decides to let nature run its course. Having a felony on your record makes it impossible for you to live a productive life so its not like these people that have OD'd were gonna become research scientists or doctors. Personally I think its much crueler to force someone to live with no hope for 50 years than just letting them die

I agree they should not charge people with a felony that carries lifelong implication for possession especially when it pertains to personal consumption.

They could still be aggressive with consequences and directing users for treatment.

We really need to stop catering to the lowest members of society and start focusing on taking care of the non-criminal, taxpaying productive ones.

I’m fine with decriminalizing drugs and setting up systems like they have in some of the European countries that have been successful with combatting addiction. But just lmfao at thinking the retarded leftists in America could successfully implement anything like that. Instead of the Midas touch, they have the Thunderpants touch. Everything they get involved with turns to sh!t.

This.

Although I think legalizing manufacture & sale would limit the deaths, so hopefully the politicians dont figure this out.

lol right? I mean everyone knows crack is highly addicting and can absolutely destroy your life, but it has new customers every single day. I don't feel sorry for addicts who willingly take the drug in the first place.

But the hardcore users never seem to OD and it's frustrating as hell (dealing with a junkie in our family currently, praying for an OD but the guy is built like a Terminator when it comes to drugs WTF).
