theyve sucked for a long while. don't understand why old RICH bands don't quit and let other people go to the front. same for all the eagles, stones, etc.

Look, Lars is a giant douche blowhard, but it's annoying when people chit all over the guy forcing reasonable people to have to defend him.
There is a difference in being a drummer who creates the music, writes the song, and is a founding member of arguably the most successful metal band ever.....and people who are technically good but who don't have anything to show for it.
It's the same with any instrument, some 11 year old asian girl can cover Stairway to Heaven better than Jimmy Page....but she can't create chit.
Here's a perfect example
Is she the best guitar player ever?

Nothing wrong with some of the 90s albums but "old" Metallica was Cliff's band and everything after was Lars'. Pissening to think about.

Also, comparing to Jimmy Page? I get the point you're trying to make, but he's known for writing some of the greatest solos of all time. Lars (while popular) hasn't had anything near that revolutionary impact on his instrument.

Well, one is doing covers on youtube and the other is in one of the biggest bands of all time.
From my understanding, Lars is great at arranging songs alongside Hetfield and pretty much handles the business side of Metallica.
Lars is far from being the most technical drummer in metal but Metallica would be nowhere as big without him.
