those jobs you're talking about probably pay 15 dollars an hour. if the pay sucks its a waste of time. not worth it. if I was in that situation I'd rather live with my parents if they were giving me allowance. you can't live on you're own making shyt money like that so what's the point? if you're in that position you should be doing something to get you the skills for a higher paying job in the meantime.

$15/hour is a liveable wage to either live just above poverty solo in a chit apartment or to have a decent apartment with a roomate or two in most places. Obviouslly exclude nice parts of costal cities, but even then just add a rommate. I'd much rather stack up roomates than live with my parents post college. Not a knock on family structure, just a rebutle to the idea that $15/hr forces you to live with your family. I had 1 roomate and lived off of $11/hr for 1 year post college before I got a better job in a costal Florida city. Wasn't that hard and it was in 2018, not 1997.

If you rewrote the title to be 1/3 o men 18-34 are either so addicted to drugs that it cripples their ability to make money and or have a mental illness restricting them from advancement in life, I'd believe that more than millions of people just simply not working from pure choice. I don't believe the gig economy where everyones an uber lyft food delivery drug dealer only fans instagram personality and making $$$ under the radar of typical statistics about the economy. I think alot of people were maturing finicially into the biggest bull market in history followed by the cheapest debt in history. Americans are up to their gills in debt and the vast majority operate with no savings. I would not be suprised if 1/3 of 18-34 see no issue with taking loans out and using that as income for the year, some people are legit retarted and do not posses the ability to plan for tomorrow, let alone retirement.

Also these stats don't go deeper by differentiating between those in college/school of some sort and those who stay with parents for cultural and or medical reasons. Those two instances alone would keep at least 1/4 18-34 perpetually out of work and or their own home.

Men used to be motivated to get a good job to impress girls, but today the dating market is completely fuked up thanks to feminism and Tinder. Women today care more about your height and other genetically-predetermined factors than about your job.

Being an atheist is the new trend (because of mUh sCiEnCe), and when people don't believe in anything other than YOLO and personal greed then why would they want to work and build a good karma if there's no afterlife?

Lastly, the college scam (backed up by the government) that screams at everyone to get a degree and gives fake promises of a success, but when people do graduate they are slapped with a ridiculous entry level requirements, affirmative action quotas, and other bs. Person who put in time and effort in college has no motivation to work in Walmart, and they shouldn't.
