Is a top 5 MBA worth it in 2022?
Going to any Top 10 MBA program used used to be a no brainer up until 2010, places like GSB, HBS, Wharton, Booth and Sloan, would instantly boost up your CV and open you the most elite doors in PE/VC/F500 world.
Lately it seems that they are taking in too many low IQ women, blacks and other subpars profiles just to meet diversity quotas - thus the quality of networking being diminished. Would u still get 250k in debt and take the opportunity cost of losing your compensation for 2 years?

I'd say yes, but it really depends what you're looking to do. These programs are filled with a lot of women who are clueless about how the world works.

I wouldn't do it for 50k.
MBA is becoming more of a joke by the day. Once I got my bachelor's I got my foot in the door of a lot of places. Then my experience and ambition outweigh any MBA.
It mostly depends on the person hiring as well. If they have an MBA, they may expect everyone else to have one too. And if networking is becoming a joke, then what's the point.

Will you also be continuing that MBA to a Doctorate? If not, why waste your time w/ a top MBA school where the degree is essentially the same.

I think the real benefit would likely be networking with other people who are also on strong paths and have good connections
The loan amount doesn't sound worthwhile unless it's produces a crazy ROI, or your family is already very wealthy and $250k doesn't matter. I took a $24k student loan for a 2-year program and am making over $250k now eight years later, so I'd obvs expect at least $2.5m/year after spending fukn $250k on student loans

I know two people who have done Harvard mbas
Both are dumb as ****. Harvard teaches you complete **** as well. He wanted to start a space consultancy now he’s unemployed.
I work in alternatives, but about to duck it off for private banking again. Alternatives is all’s about starting small and being liked.

didnt you make a thread a couple days ago on the same subject? anyways ....ofcourse its worth it , an mba or an emba from an ivy league will definitley boost your career.... keep in mind an mba from an ivy league requires a substantial amount of time,money and energy..... the outcome and the connections youll make with the circle of high profile people you meet will stay with you till you die.
youll get selected by the top 500 companies around the world and your salary will be nothing less than $250k a year "starting" excluding the other perks you get.
if you can afford it , do it..... and study well for the gmat

it all depends on what you're doing.
an MBA is worth it if:
1. You're in an industry/company that requires an MBA to climb up the ladder or get promoted to manager (e.g. high finance, MBB consulting (not anymore though))
2. You're stuck at a dead-end job and want to switch industries/companies and go to a managerial position
3. You're in a technical role and want to switch to a more managerial role
That's pretty much it.
an MBA is worth it if:
