Is PC Master Race a thing of the past now?

Consoles have done incredibly well to catch up to the capabilities of PC in recent gens. 15 years ago PCs were miles ahead, consoles couldn't hope to compare to the graphical fidelity and processing load that gaming PCs could achieve (Crysis etc).

These days there isn't really anything that can't be done on consoles. I was just playing the recent Flight Simulator on my XBSX - that was a game which once needed the highest end gaming rig to run smoothly. In almost every graphics comparison videos you can barely tell the difference between PC/PS5/XBSX.

Yes gaming in 120FPS is nice, but when you can pick up a console for $500 it's not really worth paying 4-5x the price for 99% of people. I have an RTX3080 rig and I barely use it for anything other than web browsing lol.

The PS5 is about as strong as my Ryzen 5 3600 / AMD 5700XT build - it cannot touch a i9 / RTX3080Ti build... even the next gen probably wont.

Opposite for me, I only play pc. I have a console in the living room but it collects dust basically.

Fps and racing simulator is mostly what I play, not even comparable on a console.


The consoles are really good now but they are still just for filthy casuals. Any real gaming is done on a PC. Pc gaming is Def more popular then ever now since everyone wants to be a twitch streamer.

I can’t believe you’re so wrong OP. PC’s obliterate modern consoles. You might get a higher resolution than before on consoles these days, but every single graphical setting is toned down a ton, not to mention frame rate versus a good PC.

A console is just a PC with tailored hardware, but that means that it’s running old gear less than a year after it launches. Plus the versatility of pc gaming can’t be touched. My modded RE4 game > a locked and capped version.

Consoles are king for sports titles though.

Sure you can get a $350 equivalent gpu out of an xbox series x, until you realize youre paying $30/mo for live. Just ****ing lol.

Plus I can just upgrade parts as they come out, instead of buying a new console every 2 years just lmao.

The problem is the ps5 will run the game in 1800p @ 60fps and look almost as gorgeous as the game running on PC. That will hopefully change for PC in a few years when games get better looking but for now you put a game running side by side and I don't think most people can tell one looks any better.

Right now even, the best looking game in the world is on console and nothing on PC can match it

Nah, even with the best GPUs out there you're gonna have to lower a bunch of settings to get to 120 in a modern AAA game. 60 to 120 is too much diminishing returns for me to care to drop settings. Right now, Cyberpunk is struggling to hit 60 with even a 3090 TI having everything maxxed out. Same goes for the unreal engine demo.

These cards can definitely hit 60 or even 120 but not with max settings.

Since its still near impossible to naturally buy a PS5 at a store 3 years after release I went PC/Switch Master Race.

PS4 is the last of the xbox/PS consoles that I will buy srs.

Pretty much this. There isn't really any competition. Consoles are powerful now, but they aren't keeping up with high end pcs at all.

Console wars are still a thing but pc master race just doesn't even need to be involved cause pc is light years ahead of console.

I play WoW TBC Classic at 1440p 100fps, and thats on a 6 year old graphics card (rx-480)... I used to play it on a laptop that was 1080p @ 144fps... I'm sure with the best graphics card and cpu you could push that game to 4k 120fps.... thats what I'm talkin about
