Is wonderwall the new stairway to heaven?



Seems like every time someone picks up a guitar that's their go to. When I first started playing we all used to go to stairway now it's wonderwall and I feel like an old fart at only 34.

It's old. I meant that everyone who picks up a guitar who knows the basics usually played stairway most of the time, I noticed over the past few years everyone now plays wonderwall. Replacing stairway the old classic look at me I know how to play guitar a little.

I'm not comparing the 2, I just noticed people pick up the guitar and play wonderwall over stairway these days. When I first started playing stairway was the go to.

Part of it is just generational, part of it is because Stairway is much harder to play. When my friend was teaching me how to play, he started with Diary of a Madman, now that was hard.

I like the word play, but I wasn't comparing the music. Just noticing and thinking about the people who pick up a guitar in my general vicinity.

That's kinda my point, I think maybe wonderwall is this generations stairway but that's only what I've seen so I was curious.

If your friend started you on that song that seems kinda stupid, I'm not saying I don't believe you but that just seems like the wrong place to start.

no, I agree, for weeks, I just was not getting it, he just kept at, saying if you could play this, you can play anything...still can't play it, I can get the first 20 seconds or so..
