Blessed are the merciful

If Jesus came back today many "Christians" might say "wait! he is eating with the sluts, the prostitutes, the drunkards, the drug addicts, the homosexuals, and the transgenders. This can't be the Messiah!

"Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy."

1Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

That is correct!

I am not religious and don't believe in these supernatural beings but that doesn't mean they aren't REAL IDEAS.

I have always hung out or worked to help the type of people Jesus said to, inmates, kids, and so on and I will never change.

I have worked with trans people and I am loving and supportive, but honest, I am not going to allow their prejudiced beliefs to go unchallenged.

In the story, Jesus helps sinners but he doesn't say what they're doing is okay. One of his main people was a prostitute, but an EX prostitute, not an active one.

Many people make the mistake and believe that being "nice" to bad people means smoothing over and ignoring their insanity. That's called "enabling" because you are helping them to remain insane, not helping.

Modern Liberals do that a lot.

Jesus said at other times that we can have "thought crimes" and that's okay as long as to regret it and apologize to god.

Also, an adulteress had the death penalty and was going to get stoned death. Jesus said that all sins are equal so thinking a negative thought is equal to murder. So, Jesus shows up at the stoning and reminds everyone they have committed countless sins and they know it, so they have no right to throw a stone.

They leave and the adultress thanks Jesus and asks Jesus what she is supposed to do now.

Jesus just says, go and sin no more.

So, Jesus promoted the idea that if you did something wrong and regret it, the sin is over and you need to try hard to not do that anymore.

They aren't just ideas man. Evolution cant explain ideas or "consciousness". We are made in the image of God. Your life has value!

Sure.

I go with what the philosopher Spinoza said which is that god is in your mind. The ideas are real even if god doesn't exist outside of your own beliefs.

I have been doing things Jesus said to do for a long time even though I do not believe he ever existed.

Its clear its in the context of getting them to repent. He seems to be saying its not bad to associate with them to try and bring them to Gods light. Not that it is condoned.

Peace be upon him. Nah he wouldn't sit with all those people maybe some of them. This is why eastern Orthodox Christianity is more based then the West version of it because it isn't liberalized.
