That said, I just can't fault someone for not wanting to travel thousands of miles to spend a few days in a place they don't want to be to attend a wedding. Even if she pays for OP's expenses, OP still has to burn vacation time on at minimum.
Because he says that he loves her and it's not all about him? 'Entitlement Generation' on full force ITT.

A minor amount of empathy/understanding of women will tell you that weddings are a huge deal for them due to a number of reasons. Throw on top that she's paying for it all. So he has to sacrifice a weekend/whatever, free of charge, to go to a party with the woman that he is in love with? How unreasonable of her. I would question whether he actually is though. If he is actually in love with her, he'd probably be pretty excited to go.

I wasn’t going to respond to this thread, but the lad has no one to look after his hound. I think everyone is overlooking the fact that this man is going to enjoy a weekend alone, and he’s a responsible pet owner.

I for one salute this young gentleman, as I too would ne’er abondon mai furchild for the sake of some sloot.

Aye man, respect.

Lol dudes up on misc showing screenshots about making hundreds of thousands per year in sales

Then acts like he is about to feel it if he loses 2k

If i could afford 2k on a trip that my nonexistent gf really wanted to go on , then he should have no problem either

If you are on an internet forum bragging about how balling you are , don't turn around and act like 2k is a big deal .

Frankly I made the comment to her about the money because if we are together long term, me setting a precedent by dropping 2-3k on a 48 hour trip to Seattle for a person I’ve never met doesn’t bode well for future expectations re: frivolous spending

I have saved a lot of money because I avoid **** like this, whereas I know many people that make 250k a year and spend it all, living paycheck to paycheck

Anyway boyos, I can’t quote and respond to each and every one of you. The overwhelming response has been that I dun goofed, which is probably accurate.

I understand that i approached this is a very selfish, self centered way.

I give this chick a lot of my time, treat her well, spend a good bit of money on activities, travel with her etc.

I put my foot down on this one because I just truly did not want to go.

If she decides to cheat on me because of it, then I guess I asked for it — but it also illuminates the fact that she’s not a quality woman anyway (and perhaps highlights that I’m too selfish for her — but it’s one ****ing wedding, give me a break)

In my eyes - if this wedding is make or break, that’s ****ing pathetic Peter

lol at coughing up 2k+ and time out of your schedule to go validate some couple you don't even know.

Wood have stayed home too.

Plus if OP went on GF's dime, he risks her being bitter about it.

Haha im only playing around , no disrespect,
If you don't want to go then don't, but it shouldn't be over the $ is what im saying .

250,000 per year = 20.8k per month before tax

If i made 20k per month , i could spent 2k on a weekend vacation without feeling like im living pay check to check

But i get it, you have to put your foot down at some point.

Ive never been a big spender, and if a girl is trying to turn me into one ...i'd feel some type of way...exactly like you probably do now

Free time is more valuable to me than money. I hate losing prime weekends, too, but sometimes that's just how it is if you want to maintain relationships. Just got back from a getaway with my wife's family. It was nice, but probably not what I would have chosen for myself.

It will probably be fine. If you feel like you messed up, just offer a sincere apology. Nobody's perfect, if she's a keeper she will forgive.

Honestly this is a pretty mature and self aware response to the situation OP. Based on what you've said about her, I don't think she will cheat on you however I think it may open both of your eyes to certain issues causing an eventual break up.

1.) you view her dropping 2K as financially irresponsible, causing your to have doubts about how she handles her money.

2.) She could now see you as selfish, and not dependable to be there for her. Causing her to doubt your ability to be a long term partner.

I wouldn't say there is fault either way, just a lack of compatibility.

If she's making a big deal about it prepare for the breakup, srs.

The absolute worst breakup of my life revolved around a wedding that was going to happen.

Obviously each scenario is different, but when it comes to weddings people can go fuking psycho...

Sorry for being salty op , got dumped a week ago.
On 2nd thought dont even go on the trip

Most girls never appreciative anything post break up.

I dropped 500 on a 1 day 1 night vacation on her. And countless meals etc

And now that we are broken up it doesnt mean anything

In fact, i want to find a girl who is willing to contribute something.

You're dun goofin' if you're srsly interested in the girl.

If you can't spend $2k on a weekend trip, you've dun goof'd again. Seattle is a beautiful place to spend the weekend and I look for any excuse to get out of town. I've done a wedding there when I truly couldn't afford it and had no regrets. GF's come at a cost, especially when you care about them and do things they want to do. Not to mention she offered to pay for the trip. Do you not enjoy spending time with her? Sounds like you may need to let her go all together.

All good, I know you’re a good dude

What this whole situation has cemented for me is that women (and people) in general, are an enormous pain in the ass.

There is never going to be a girl that is totally perfect that doesn’t come with annoying requests, that doesn’t come with you having to make sacrifices and do stuff you don’t want to do.

I think it’s still up in the air on whether or not I’m capable of being a mature person when it comes to doing stuff I don’t want to do and sacrificing for someone else (I.e. maybe I will never be a good husband and life partner for someone)

I think that I have it in me, but not having had to do it for 34 years means I’m used to being selfish as hell (ded fkn Srs)

I may be doomed to being a 50 yr old genetic dead end (ded fkn Srs)

Not make or break but its the beginning of the end. This will probably be one of the most embarrassing things for her.

Stay safe boyo.

In my eyes - if this wedding is make or break, that’s ****ing pathetic Peter

(ded fkn Srs)
TBH, I wouldn't want to go to the wedding even if it was in my own town and minimal inconvenience.

The only reason you dun goofed is if you really care about her, as others have pointed out weddings are a good place for sloots to cheat.

Stay safe boyo.
I don’t see why it’s embarrassing? I was a bridesmaid at my friend’s wedding 7 hours away and I didn’t bring my fiancé. A bridesmaid is so busy and paired up with the groomsman anyways.

OP’s gf isn’t the cheating type.

I wasn’t mad at him for not going to the wedding. We had other problems. He stopped having sex with me so I turned to young cawk.
Judging by your avi, I bet if you lost weight, things would have turned around in your marriage but I guess the typical sloot logic never prevails - run from problems, play the victim, turn to internet for validation from desperate losers.

Thanks misc!

ITT I learned that nothing worth anything in life is total bliss and joy. Everything that is fun or fulfilling will come with sacrifices and compromises along the way that we must partake in if we want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Mind fuking blown guys, I always thought I could just wing it and kick the chit doing my own thing till I'm old while having people who just loved me for existing.

This is very unsettling btw

You dont go, its going to cause issues down the line.

If you do go and she really does pay for everything. You will never hear the end of it if something comes up. She will ALWAYS hold that against you.
