We got a quote for blinds for my mom's home last month. $2000 for the material and $400 for labor. When I told the owner that the EXACT blind model she quoted would be $700 online, she cited "labor cost" for why her materials are marked up to 3x cost. Just lmao.

$700 isn’t even bad when you factor in 70 feet (bare minimum) of 4 in drain pipe, fittings, glue/primer, fabric, aggregate. Are they going to put top soil and grass seed down? Do you know what fittings are needed? Do you need a pop up drain on the downstream end? Do you have all the material in stock? There’s no guarantee on what will be needed so are you going to run to the store everytime you don’t have something?

Are you going to pick up the rock or have it delivered?

CSST flex pipe is actually superior for indoor applications and he was doing you a favor with the manifold to make it super easy to tie into if you ever want to add something in the future. 2800 seems ridiculous though depending how far the run was.

If you want to save considerable money, do your own footwork by obtaining your own permits/plans independently. Then hire the guys who work for the contractor and have them do the work on their days/time off.

Got quoted half price on the dot for stucco work on a whole house from an independent guy who works for a contractor. Same with electrical work on a garage addition and roofing.

Proper landscape can do absolute fukking wonders for flipping or even resale value. Especially if you've got basic craftiness and can hedge/leaf blow your on ****. Landscape is some of the easiest high dollar work out there.

Without knowing what all the job entailed exactly its impossible to say which was right or wrong... end of the day if YOU the customer wanted a certain material then by all means he should of provided you with a quote to do the job as such...

However the "Yellow dangly pipe" while it would not look as good once completed...( I will certainly agree with you there ) does do one very important thing Sch. 40 iron pipe does NOT.. and that is minimizes the joints in or under the home which removes chances for potential leaks down the road. And NG leak isnt even on the same level as a leak from a Domestic Water line... it can literally blow your house the fk up!!!

There is also a very good chance that the contractor who gave you a quote that was higher than Giraffe pu$$y using a material you DIDNT want was just a nice way of saying ... I dont want to do this job.
