In the article...

"Russia has been developing and testing the Zircon missile for many years now.

One of its main features is its speed, which gives the weapon its strategic value.

The Zircon is able to travel at eight times the speed of light (Mach 8) and carry a payload of around 300kg.

That's pretty darn fast.

Okay and how many of these missiles does Russia actually have? Those poverty ***s are using dumb boms, they can hardly produce these type of new missiles.

The thing I don't get is that people seem to think the US doesn't have similar hypersonics. We were building the sr 71 which is a manned aircraft, back in the 50's which goes almost mach 4, yet they think we don't have a missile capable of mach 8 like 70 yrs later? Or tech to counter hypersonics? With the track record of deception, I'd be inclined to believe we already have some god weapon that makes everything else irrelevant. I dunno just seems fishy to me

The only downfalls of hypersonic are when it comes to hypersonic flight, but when it comes to weapons like missiles, those downfalls are a non-issue. Nobody is going to complain about loud sonic booms when you are bombing the phuck out of them.

I'm always surprised that people think we know about countries' top military tech. Obviously the good stuff is all gonna be a secret. Whether it's Russia, China or the USA having that tech.

The biggest issue with current "hypersonic missiles"(which people dont realize, half the ****ing missiles/rockets out there are hypersonic by definition anyways)... Is that they can not hit moving targets, because the heat/heatshields required around them during flight prevent data from being received. They have no option for dealing with decoys (yet), in the FUTURE they will definitely be a concern. Nobody has yet shown they can actively track/destroy a moving target w/ a hypersonic weapon.

Hypersonic is great for limiting potential countermeasures... But right now they are just being used as a "OMG LOOK AT OUR TECH" no matter how rudimentary it is.

10 years from now, will it be a concern? 100%. Right now? Absolutely not.

China/Russias entire point of creating hypersonics was to attempt to defeat carriers... right now that is a pipe dream with the current hypersonic tech that has been 'shown' and known about.

Not a pipe dream.

The US military was busy the last 50 years sipping money from the US taxpayers for their military endeavors with nothing to show for.

Meanwhile, all these other countries did spend money on R&D.

Look at what happen to the latest fighter jet that landed in the water.

Russia isnt strong....America is weak right now.

lol at their only cruiser being intercepted.........I hope they used their proper pronouns when they "intercepted" them

Russia sees the writing on the wall for America and Bidens incompetency and is acting....meanwhile 5% of the population are complete retards bitching about literal chit that doesn't matter, 80% have their heads down working, just trying to live their life and the other 15% are trying to spread the word that we are fukked and need to do something to turn this sinking ship around.
