Is there anything more satisfying than completing a "work goal"

Srs.

You basically are there 40-50 hours a week. You have your own goals and ambitions for work, and there is NOTHING more satisfying than completing a goal and hearing "Good job Bro!" on your way out the door. You tell your wife/GF and they look at you sort of blankly but even THEY understand you did something good. Nothing better

Also if your flight has been late/cancelled this week.... FUK YOU!! because it's been crazy busy with weather and I don't care that your plane was late to take off and didn't make an EDCT time

You can literally buy pizza.. Srs we've had a handful of GA pilots order 4 pizza's to the center not realizing that there are 300+ people that work there lol

Nothing besides getting raises and scamming... srs lol

But sometimes you work with a 6 person crew on some chitty weather day and only get 30 min breaks and deal with low altitude pilots on VFR days, followed by high altitude pilots of thunderstorms seasons that everyone is deviating around... and make it all work and feel like a boss.

Achieving goals/completing tasks is a great way to get a healthy amount of dopamine moving around in our brains.

One reason I advocate for people to set goals, literally just to achieve a goal. It does feel good. I would suggest the harder we have to work for something, the more satisfying it is.

(Flight school was a gd emotional roller coaster and rope was absolutely an option at times. Two years later when my sister pinned my wings…..Walking the stage in college was completely meaningless comparatively).

I am not the kind of guy to carry work home. I feel like it is great bonding opportunity to share our good news with our loved ones, but work is not that for me.

Also, like everyone I dwell on things. Usually we only notice the negative things that we dwell on. I have been successfully working on not dwelling on negative things unnecessarily, but a few years ago I had the realization I was dwelling on what I perceived to be positive things as well.

In an attempt to sustain balance in my life, I actively started working on not dwelling on positive things. For example, getting a compliment at work. I will enjoy the moment, express appreciation for the compliment, hang out there for a second to think about ways I can repeat this type of situation in the future, give myself some well deserved appreciation, and when it is over, it is over.

It depends on your circumstances. If you are meeting the goals you’ve set for yourself, it’s very satisfying. Meeting the goals others have set for you isn’t so clear. I imagine it being better to not need to meet any work goals, other than those you’ve set for yourself.
