what a waste of a season. no impact whatsoever at the end. maeve should have been killed off. amd we all know butcher is going to take compound V and be healed

was homelander lasering that guy at the end a reference to trump saying he could shoot someone on 5th ave and people would still love him? pretty sure it was

soldier boy was the only good character after they turned homelander into a whimpering pussy

his power makes no sense though. If his beam doesnt kill, why did butcher stop him from using it? also, why does it take 7 hours for it to charge up, when he shot kimiko a few episodes back with little charge time?

It makes sense, they just can't exactly cram in the whole comic into a single season.

I have read about the Invincible comic and it sound much the same.

I know The Boys is much different now but the show really sucks.

It sucks because it's a comedy skit show and not a story like it could be. Most of the episodes are like Saturday Night Live skits strung together with some scenes having to do with a plot.

It could be a great show but it just has the wrong people making it.

I loved the wit in Supernatural and thought it would be more like that.

Ya, but they have to redeem A-Train first! Can't have a full-villain POC!
And can't possibly kill Maeve, she's bisexual!

I suggest everyone go reads the comics, they're just far superior at this point.

- After 2 seasons of trying to be the good dude, Hughie went skawched erf Butcher-style at the beginning, but now he's back to his old self. What's next?
- Honestly tired of Butcher at this point, especially his stupid "swagger from left to right and twist his head before dropping a one liner about oi or ****, look at me, I'm acting" shtick. He went full in, then backtracked. Can't wait to see that once again. Probably will have one of those special brain tumors that don't debilitate the person at all while also killing them in a year tops.
- Kimiko came to terms over her powers and being a psycho, Monkerr took an arbitrary time in his life to finally stand up for himself (again) and demand dental plans and a pension, stay tuned for more surprise Nina in the future.
- MM is pretty much done, but maybe he'll punch Todd again.
- Annie is apparently out of Vought, but not really since she still has a massive following so she can just pop back in. Maybe we'll get some interesting relationship drama with Hughie.
- One of the worst things about Hughie's regression is that whether we like it or not, he's the closest thing the show treats as an audience surrogate. In a way this made the first season a bit bumpy when it focused on him, but finally seeing him take up an actual role for a change was refreshing.

- I share the same sentiments with Butcher. It was cheeky fun for the first season and a half, but he's been spinning his wheels for a while now doing nothing but the same tired beats and motivations. His life being on the clock doesn't really change much other than making him suddenly wanting to targetNeumanover invest his remaining time on taking out Homelander all the more confusing.

- Kimikio and Frenchie really do feel like they've reached the peak of any real development. Their relationship always struck me as platonic anyway, so the stint in the hospital felt extra forced and almost redundant given how they've treated them on screen for the rest of the show, and the biggest "reveal" I've heard would be that Frenchie isn't really French. Except the moment when him being a fake baguette passed when Nina had a collar on him, so it's very well possible that they'll drag her up again just to shove in an extra non-plot.

- MM and his motivations specifically were not something I thought much about, but you're right. He's basically just tagging along now until they inevitably have his ex wife breakup with Todd for being a Homer and go back to MM. That at least makes sense, although they should have picked a stepfather that fit the role instead of a contender for "most punchable face."

- Annie officially joining The Boys kind of caught me off guard because I pretty much assumed she was for all intents and purposes in while also serving as their in to Vought. I mean, she stole Temp V for them already, so it seemed more like an excuse to just bring up voting so Frenchie could bitch at Butcher some more.

I just don't want to hear Starlight complain about what Homelander's up to when she was the one who decided to lead the anti-Soldier Boy gatecrash that ruined the closest chance of removing Homelander's powers. Hell, if Ryan got caught in the blast then he might have his powers removed as well, so Butcher would have had everything he wanted in one swing. Back to Annie/SL, though, the most she has is the blackmail against Homelander, but even that seems like it won't be a big deal after how they went full retard in the finale.

The only other thing regarding Annie that comes to mind is how they completely dropped the extremely short hostage-style relationship Homelander forced her to have onscreen, which was one of the leads that showed some interesting potential.

I had to break this up because BB.com was being a twat giving me an Access Denied:

Wish I was making that up

"At no point did I ever consider killing Maeve, from the very, very beginning [of the series]. We were intentionally building to a happy ending for her, always, for a lot of reasons. One, she deserved it. Believe it or not, The Boys is a moral universe, and when you make the right choices, you get rewarded, and she deserved a happy ending with Elena.

I am not going to fall into the trope of killing off gay characters. I’m aware of it, [and] I agree with the criticism of it. I’m not going to do that as well. And I’ll admit that I think we’re playing around a little with that trope by letting people think she’s dead, and they’re going to shout at their TV and be really upset by it, but then [we] reveal she’s actually going to go have a nice, power-free life with her girlfriend. So hopefully that will take the sting off it.”

https://screenrant.com/the-boys-maev...k-differences/
I never heard of such a thing either, and it's seems like such an obscure "trope" to worry about amongst all theothertropesthat make up the rest of the show.

Really though, it's practically insane to try and write anything around something as deeply autistic as TVTropes, especially when it's something as inane as, "you can't kill off a character because X." Well, terrific: I guess we can't kill off gay characters, but gay people are supposed to be like everyone else, so now I guess we just created a trope where gay peoplecan'tbe killed, and we're back to it being one big trope again.

That said, I actually liked Maeve in the show, and that would have been such a stupid way for them to kill her off, sacrificing herself for a bunch of morons who all caught the idiot ball.

Ya, maybe your watered-down version that's more concerned about taking jabs at Trump than effectively building plot.

The only big twist in the finale was Noir, and they've already confirmed thesame actorwill be playing a "Noir 2.0" in Season 4. They didn't kill him, they just retconned him. What a joke.
It doesn't help that their own ideas of morals are pretty sh*t if you look at the show they've made in hindsight.

There also isn't a single core point of the show that was based on our reality/current events that benefits the show, and all it does for me at least is date it to whichever yearpriorto when the season is released (since it takes time to write, film, and edit before release). Like, are they planning supe abortion for the next season? They already have a solid foundation for a world with corporate and militarized supes that offers infinite possible directions to go in, but they're too busy trying to force a point in that grinds said world to a halt while it's practically reaching through the fourth wall.

As bad as Game of Thrones sh*t the bed at the end, imagine just how much worse it would have been had it been released a couple years later and they decided to suddenly turn Cersei into a Trump pastiche? Not only does it come across as abitunhinged on their part, like have a little restraint and leave your Twitter wanks to your private time, but it twists an extant character into some new thing that now feels like a forced reaction to events completely outside of the fiction.

How close is the show to the comics in terms of season 1 to volume 1, season 2 to volume 2, ect.? I was thrown off a bit looking online whereVolume 5 of 6 was Herogasm, so I'm assuming the show is out of order, but I can't find anything about the other volumes past 2.

And strong agree on sticking to the source material. A common problem that seems to always crop up the more they change any kind of source material is that they keep spiraling down a rabbit hole they created that has to diverge even further the more it goes on. Then if they decided to bring things back home again, they're left with trying to wrangle whatever tangent of their own making and spin it back into making sense with the original story. I know next to nothing about The Boys comic storyline, but I get the feeling that the people behind the show have not planned enough in advance to ensure they aren't just creating their own thing that gets lost down the road, especially if there is a remote possibility that they get an extension past 5 seasons.

Yeah, trying to pretend that it was a "yay, finally" moment with Annie joining the crew was pretty stupid. But anyway, they have the full records and footage of Vickie being the headpopper who was adopted by fuking Edgar, why are we supposed to pretend that it's a source for conflict? Annie can just release all of that and call it a day. And she already leaked Compound V and all that crap about Herogasm, Homelander and Maeve.

Although it's interesting (stupid) how apparently nobody cared about HL admitting that he killed Supersonic and the protests were only about Maeve.

Completely off, the comics are an inspiration at best. Dakota Bob (completely different character) was sitting POTUS with Vic Neuman (completely different character) being VP at the very beginning of the comics.

can't really match seasons and volumes 1:1, but in the first season a lot of the comic source material returned, in the second it got less and less (f.e. the entire St0rmfront storyline never happens in the comics, Becky/Becca dies during giving birth and Butcher kills the baby (so no Ryan)) and now with the third season almost nothing resembles the comics anymore (the "biggest" comic plot was also thrown out with killing Noir)

Yeah, Maeve surviving jumped the shark a LOT and just didn't make any sense. Especially her powers suddenly disappearing because of what, the radiation?

Don't know where they are going with the political angle, and it really feels like a silly tacked on bit. Would make almost more sense for the head popper to become a high up at Vought instead. Agree that Frenchy and Kimiko is done and needs to just walk off into the sunset.

Only entertaining bit was Deep as usual, the bit with the octopus threesome was hilarious.

So they didn't resolve the story arc of Jamie the Supe Hamster? He caused havoc after being released from his Russian cage and was never captured. Hopefully Jamie is a big part of season 4.

Soldier Boys beam zaps the supes powers. That’s why Kimiko lost her powers.

And why didn't they just shove a stick of dynamite up Homelanders ass like they did translucent? They had him pinned down. Why some elaborate scheme when they already figured out you can blow up invulnerable supes from the inside out?

They had a scene where they were firing a machine gun in Soldier Boy's mouth and it didn't bother him, so that might not count for everyone.

Anyway, the show is a comedy and not a real story. So, the "shove it up his ass" thing was a gory comedy scene and not really part of any story.

We never really established how invulnerable Transclucent was, anyway. He was a new character and not really a rip on any obvious comic book counterpart, as if it would matter that much.

Have we pretty much established s3 was a let-down, yet? Sad, every episode up to the finale left me wanting for more. Now? I'm good. I can take it or leave it and I'm concerned the show will go down a dark woke path based on how things ended and certain insane quotes from the showrunners.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

The Boys is dead my friend.
I’d expect next season to be more of the same just amplified.

Unless they get new writers or get serious, the show is doomed and is just going to be stupid then get canceled.

Victim of it's own success, IMO. People enjoyed, entirely for what it was, writers get cocky -- now they don't have to dance around topics like they used too, we're going to see more and more of their true colors.

They're tired of trying to placate conservatives, they loathe them and look down on them and they certainly do not fear them. With the hard left, they lean towards them already so they're sympathetic and at the end of the day they live in fear of upsetting them and/or getting cancelled.

So, get ready for a lot more post-season interviews with the writers talking about imaginary tropes about minorities/gays they have to write around to explain why women, gays, blacks and whoever else are Better than others and can't be put in unpleasant positions. Plus, forget any debate about the show being even or skewering the right and left, that's going away and Season Four will be a full-on Assault on Trump, conservatives being dopes, Abortion Rights and how we must have gun control.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Lol the obvious in your face parallels between the “nazi/ homelander supporters” and Trump supporters is beyond a juvenile attempt to get a jab at Conservatives.

The show went full woke/Democratic propaganda mode in a second.
