BMW jumps into microtransactions: Begins selling $18 heated seat subscriptions

BMW, which has been evangelizing microtransactions in the automotive space for over four years, is giving it another go.

The automaker has launched a number of subscription-based services for drivers in South Korea on features that are fairly common in U.S. vehicles.

Heated seats, for example, run for $18 per month. A heated steering wheel will cost $10 per month. And high-beam-assist headlights, a driver safety feature, come with an $8 per month charge. In all of these examples, discounts are available with multi-year commitments and the feature can be purchased with permanent access.

lmao at BMW cels

Dude at work has some 80k BMW 5 series. Waste of fuking money. Its got big screens and chit but still its like driving a big old boat compared to my GTI that is like 1/3rd the price. He bought some extended warranty on his tires and the dealership still dicks him around had to take it in like 3x before they finally found the nail in the sidewall to replace it, what is the point of spending all that money if they still give you hassle. You should get a reach around and shoulder massage every visit if you drop 80k.

Its weird listening to them defend the company like loyal cucks. I dont worship VW they fuk up a lot of things, if Toyota had a hot hatch when I bought my VW I would have bought from them instead.

BMWcels will be trying to talk about how subscription for your car is a great thing.

The 2008-2014 N54/N55 cars are actually terrific used performance cars. Very easy to tune to 400-500 HP and very fun to drive. But I agree that buying a new BMW is pretty much equivalent to pissing away money, and the dealerships are awful. Fun cars though if you're buying used and working on them yourself.

Im pretty sure he said he paid 5k for the tire warranty for the special run flats it has but I didnt want to ask him to say it a second time. was like wtf you spend that much and they are stingy with giving out a new tire when yours is damaged, told him they couldnt find the leak the first and second time.

yeah im sure they are like other eurocel cars like my vw, with the canbus having lots of hidden options. I flashed my ECU and have an OBDII reader for the special canbus.

If toyota made something fun though I would just get that instead of dealing with the euro overengineered stuff. They are finally going to put out that rally car later that is actually an all toyota product and not made by bmw/subaru. Wish they had a lower spec version, that one will probably be limited run and expensive.

Itโ€™s gonna get worse.

When one of them gets away with it, the others do the same.

In another 10 years, people will be crying about how their Indian DIY video educations didnโ€™t get them out of debt while Jack Ma is the first elected US president born in another country.

Imagine having the heaters come installed yet you have to pay to turn them on.

Won't be long unit they charge you to use your wipers.

just wait until they start charging you monthly for airbags

didn't pay your $29.99 monthly airbag fee? enjoy dying of head trauma when your steering wheel crashes directly into your head.

this would make sense for more advanced options like self driving, collision avoidance, auto wipers etc. that way the manufacturer just builds all cars the same way with all "options" already installed, as a consumer you wouldnt have to worry about the car in the color you want sitting at your local dealer having all the features you want since they all have the same options potential from the factory.

but seat heaters LMAO, that **** comes in everything but the most bare-bones econoboxes.

Can confirm. My N55 335i is chipped and is a blast to drive.

The N55/ZF is a bulletproof engine/trans combo.
