Turned an old dresser into a bar (just tradie things)

Had this old dresser that I was undecided on what to do with, so I ended up turning it into a bar

Replaced the drawer with shelves
Replaced the top with a cutting board
Wallpapered the original backing
Installed wine glass holder, towel hanger, bottle cap opener and 4 new legs
Painted it and stained the shelves

i believe they call that shabby chic. that's a lot of work. i'd just buy a bar. at least i see a bottle of Espolon. but i keep mine in the freezer for maximum taste and drinkage.

Most furniture nowadays is particle board crap, this bar will be here another 50 years

Espolon is the GOAT tequila too, super good price point as well

Hardest part is finding older furniture to get started (if you don’t have any already) estate sales and side of the roads are the best places. Don’t need many tools I did everything in this one with my crappy Ryobi drill and circular saw, I did hand sand but it was smaller piece so it wasn’t that big of a problem

Nice dude, I love these kinds of projects. Turned out very nice, I like the navy blue color choice. Contrasts well with the wall color and looks masculine.

A good beginners project would be converting an old set of bedroom drawers into a bookshelf type thing - you could add a bar on top, or whatever you wanted.

The front of the old drawers can be used for the shelves (the wood will match, and they are already cut to perfect size to fit inside the frame). Double them up if you want more depth.

The runners for the old drawers can be used to support the new shelves, already inplace, and (probably) level.

Plus old drawer units can be found cheap or free with the bottoms busted out, or even in good condition.

This will give you the satisfaction of up-cycling and let you focus on the design/finishing without needing alot of tools, measuring/ cutting wood or trying to find wood to match - which can be hard depending on your skill level
