A family member of mine did a year in a federal camp with a lot of white collar people. He said the prison was really bad because the black people that were in there came from no money and didn't know basic hygiene. They smelled, rarely showered and didn't use deodorant because you have to buy your own deodorant...and they didnt have money in their commissary. They also got really loud for no reason and it was difficult to sleep.

A lot of people in the camps were either white collar, or low level black drug offenders or people "stepped down". Stepping down means they were getting near the end of their sentence and went from medium security to low, then low to camp. A few of them had murder and manslaughter charges but they were respectful because they wanted to do their time and get out. The biggest problem were the poor blacks who came from the streets and didn't know how to act normal.

The guards were also terrible, powertripping over the color of visitors clothes or if you turned your chair the wrong way...they routinely opened visitor hours late and ended them early for no reason. Most of the guards were just lazy but there was always one or two really bad guards who would hit inmates for no reason or put them in the SHU/AdSeg/Solitary for no reason. My family member did two weeks in the SHU because he wouldn't narc on other inmates. Also the guards were literally bringing in drugs and phones for the inmates like TV.

In a camp there were no cells or fences, so inmates would routinely leave at night and go pickup drugs from their girlfriends. They'd have to run at night off the property without being caught.

My family member got into two fights, one with his bunkmate who was a black drug dealer and tried to power trip over him, he choked the drug dealer out in the bathroom. The other fight I don't know much about but it ended quickly, I think with one punch.

My dad did state felony time for a gun charge in New Jersey and it was much worse than what I described above in the 1990s. A few of my extended family members have done time for murder, attempted murder and violent offenses but I've never talked to them about it. I don't associate with that side of the family except once every few years.

Chauvin is having a rough time unless he gets transferred to a medical facility like FMC Butner, that's where the child molesters go.
