It depends. Like sometimes I post news articles in the R/P for discussion, but never really discuss it. But other people are free to do so.

But, I could see what you're saying and I know you always go through your threads and respond to everyone.

Speaking for myself, it depends.

When I make threads about myself and my friends post their replies, I reply to them all except for those by my haters. (you know who, LOL)

When I make threads for miscers to express their ideas freely, I tend not to reply individually because I don't want to discourage the ones who have opposite opinions against the majority except for those personal opinions posted towards me.

If miscers quote my posts positively then they often would get repped. After all, I'm a mere human.

That means if I post a personal one toward the OP and get ignored repeatedly then I'd lose interest in that micer and eventually stop reading (responding to) their threads completely.

Most of my threads are either just to open up a discussion about something I found interesting or funny. I try to make sure i reply if I was legitimately asking advice

Threads usually die when I respond to comments on my threads so I basically stopped doing it unless I have to. Something about the thread creator and the last post by the same username makes people not want to click on the thread anymore.
